Cat enclosures?

I was reading in my Cat Fancy magazine about large, fenced enclosures that can be built onto the back of the house, so that indoor cats can have a safe outdoor area to breathe a little fresh air. I was wondering if anyone has heard of these, and if they are a good quality product.
