Hardy Hibiscus, Rose Mallow, Swamp Mallow 'Moy Grande' (Hibiscus moscheutos)

Olathe, KS

I have had one of these for about 12 yrs, now. Couldn't be happier with it. We even dug it up and moved it at 6yrs....It is a beautiful and forgiving plant.

How big are your flowers? Dinner plate size? The flowers on mine were big but I though they would be bigger, some one told me that they grow bigger the second year.

I'm glad that I planted these then, I've heard nothing but good things about it.

I love the pinkish color on yours ! Mine are dark red I wish I had the pinkish blooms you have they are beautiful.

The mallow sawflies are unmerciful. It's awful. Either they skeletonize my plants or I apply systemic insecticide and risk hummers being poisoned. I don't really know what to do. There's no way I can smother the sawflies every few days with oil based sprays. The plants are too large and they cook under the oil.
