b. Shirley's Peach

Tellico Plains, TN(Zone 7b)

Not a very special picture , but ..........
.....................Just wondering if there was a different reason for naming this brug 'Shirley's Peach' ? Note the 'Peach-fuzz' on the bloom . Hope this comes through large enough to see the fuzzies.

Would have liked an open shot , but it's so hot and sticky-humid today and they are all pouting ('-')

It looks huge Scoot! Shirley can tell you how it got named. I would love to see it open, try to get us a shot please!

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

It sure doesn't look like Shirley's Peach to me. Normally that one will open wide and be very light peachy pink color, but at first glance, you would think it was white.

Shirley's Peach is not my brug. It is a name given to an unknown brug a long time ago.

Here is what it looked like for me. http://davesgarden.com/contest/2001/viewentry.php?imageid=56

('-') Good Morning Brugie ,
......I know this is not one of yours.
I got this cutting last year from RD and he said it is a Shirley's Peach =( ??

If you still think it's labeled wrong , just lmk .

It was one I got from Renee that was labeled Versi. Apricot. Well, it was obvious it wasn't a versi or apricot. She got it that way, so it wasn't her fault. I tried to find a name for it and someone said just call it Shirley's Peach so we would know what it was. That is actually how the name came about. It does bloom a pinky peach color if it is the one originally from me.

I have 2 small ones that have light green, almost yellow, leaves. They've been fertilized, but the foliage stays light. Is this the way they are supposed to be?

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

Sylvia, I think the foliage in the picture I gave a link for is about normal for this one. You might use it to compare to your own foliage. It is lighter than a lot of brugs.

Good Morning my friends,

Shirley, the last year I had mine, it had way over 150 blooms on it and it was about 7 ft. wide and six foot + tall. It was awesome to look at. She is a great grower. Pretty picture.

Tellico Plains, TN(Zone 7b)

Tnx Brugie,
This is the one I kept somewhat alive in the window last winter. Short and shrubby, some blooms almost drag the ground. Around 5 ft.H .
Cute plant for now ;-P
I have a couple taller ones not yet blooming well .
I think RD sent me about 5 or 6 cuttings last year , way too many SPs' here , lol

Mukwonago, WI(Zone 5a)

Hey Scoot..... The original plant that Brugie mentioned above did come from me. It was our very first Brug. And it came from Gurney's as a small 6 inch plant labeled Versi-Apricot. Or was it v. peach?....Not positive today. It was so amazing to see and smell all those beautiful flowers that first season. So I thought Brugie would kinda like one for her garden too. THAT was the very beginning of our Brug-Addiction. And little did we know what was in store for us down the road :)

Hear about the Mukwonago disaster this past weekend? The Dear DH decided to treat his lovely crabgrass 2 weeks ago and inadvertently hit every brug in my collection. I began noticing the serious systemic damage on Friday. Keeping my fingers crossed that some will make it for next year. For now...I'll have to do the 'wait-and-see" thing. BUMMER :(

P.S. How's that Sang bud doing??????

Tellico Plains, TN(Zone 7b)

Aww Ruby, So sorry to hear that :'(
Dangerous DH's in or near the garden ...... BTDT !
I hope your brugs will survive.
I've been thinking of offering SP for newbies ,
later this year.
SP has a mission in life I guess ;-D

Sang keeps Y'ing and setting buds which drop off. But the big bud is about 3" now.
