Multiflowered Isabella!!!

St. Louis, MO(Zone 6b)

One of my Isabella plants is flowering again. This time there are some interesting flowers which I never noticed before. I thought all the flowers had five petals. This plant, however, had flowers with 5, 6, and 9 petals. Is this common? The following pictures show the variety of flowers on this one bush.

It may be too early to see if the color changes on the nine-petaled flower but now it looks white. If I pollinate it is there a chance that the offspring would have nine petals on their flowers?

Yukon, OK(Zone 7b)

Woah! That 6 is huge!!! And the 9....wow-o-WOW!!! I want to see another shot of that one! It is huge! Post pics of it from the side Padre! It's really cool looking!

Well, now I see what I doing around MY brugs! That's a very nice combination.
Thanks.

Raleigh, NC(Zone 7b)

A 9-point brug!?! Is that a record? Your pictures would make a great addition to the ABADS "mutations" page http://www.americanbrugmansia-daturasociety.org/brugmansia%20mutations.htm

Grass Lake, MI(Zone 5a)

You must have had a great plant person taking care of your babies for you Padre. That is just great!

Tom, I never saw that page before. Cool!

Wow, Padre.
I've never seen a bloom with two stigmas. Great bloom.

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

So, I wonder if you pollinate both stigmas, will there be twin seed pods? Very interesting.

Katy, TX(Zone 9a)

Padre, I am so jealous of your beautiful Isabella! After my Isabella's last flush, the temperatures have climbed, and the bugs are attacking! This morning, I found spider mites all over the plant. I've treated the plant with Bayer 3-in-1, but this didn't stop the mites. Do you use anything special to keep the bugs away?

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

I do not think the Bayer 3 in 1 lists spidermites does it? I know the Rose systemic does. I hate spidermites this year.

That flower is huge!!! And the anthers are not fused.

Tonasket, WA(Zone 5a)

Padre, glad you are back and great to see all the variation in your pretty pink blooms. Hope you get a chance to try pollenizing it. Donna

Herbstein, Germany(Zone 5a)

Welcome back Padre! The picture of Isabella is very pretty. I would pollinate the two stigmas of the 9 lobed flower to find out, if they develop any pods. The offspring will have normal petals.

Columbia, SC(Zone 8a)

WOW, that's huge. What does it measure? That's a real beauty. I love the planting in the first photo.

Very interesting and I am so glad you shared it with us. I have never seen anything like this.

St. Louis, MO(Zone 6b)

It was called to my attention that there are 10 petals on this flower, not 9. I pollinated it but have no expectations. By the time I got to pollinate it it had started to wilt. Oh well. Maybe next time.

Tellico Plains, TN(Zone 7b)

Padre, Welcome back.
Does the flower stem look like it is fused , like two stuck together?

SE Arky, United States(Zone 8a)

Amazing Padre, and oh so pretty!!! I love your coleus with it, very nice!!!

Covington, LA(Zone 8b)

Maybe I am counting wrong, but I see 10 petals--if the part between the pale stripes is a petal.
