....growing Brugs that is.
Since I have proven that I CAN grow them...even managed to have one "winter over" and still bloom....and having met our newbie, greeno....who is BRUGLESS! I have, out of the kindness of my heart...given my last two Brugs to him.
Les came over today and picked them up
WHEE! No more spider mites!
No more dropped leaves!
No more watching for a "Y"!
No more having to water twice a day!
...but then again.....
No more beautiful blooms
No more great smelling blooms
No more bragging what a great Brug I have...
Oh well....does anyone have cutting they want to share??? LOL
Jo
Edited because I spelled BRUGS wrong.

I QUIT!!!
*snif-snif* There they go...good bye old friends...I know that if Greeno is able to build a house under ground and use solar power for it, then he can certainly grow those BRUGS! Good Luck, Les!!
PSST...they are not returnable! LOL
Jo
And look at that pot!!! I want to get my starts from you!
Now root...don't get excited....Greeno has agreed to return my pots...I have killed....er...planted many nice things in those pots in the last 4 years!! Jo
Jo, I'm sure he will give them a good home. For someone that is on the road as much as you are, I don't know how you have kept them alive as long as you have. Anytime you want to give it a go again, just speak up. I have a few that can always stand a hair cut.
Must tell you, after messing up my back this last summer, there were times where I wanted to say "I Quit"! But I'm going to stick it through this winter, and see what I get next summer before making that decision, since mine are seedlings. (BIG seedlings). These pots weigh a ton. DH is hauling them around for me now.
Hah Root, My sentiments exactly ... nice pot (flower) RR
Jo....
I can't believe you gave up
If you want to do surgery what'cha going to use????
Brugie...you'll be the first to koiw./..Thanks!
Scooterbug...they are a matched pair...I can kill identical things as the same time!!
Karrie...at least you have a DH to tote and carry!
Crestedchick...I am now working on some Iris...and have managed to operate on some Hedgehog cactus!! Stickey-wicket there!LOL
Jo
Does this mean you won't be wearing your BRUG KILLER shirt? lol.
Hey RR, just re-read your first post .........
Hehheehee ! Sure 'nuff sweetie, I'll have cuttings to share this fall.
Hang on to that T-shirt .... lol

Ah Jo, can't believe you're giving up! Remember the pink one that you rode to Maryland with??? Just holler when you're ready to do more surgery, er, I mean grow some more brugs! There's a bunch of us that will share so you can take your pick.
Ya'll are just TOO TOO nice...Calalilly...I saw GinLyn (to who we delivered the HUGE brug) when I was in Boone...she reports that it is doing well.
As a wooman is allowed to change her mind...Kit...the shirt sstays!! LOL Jo
I sure understand how you feel about these brugs, Roadrunner. It's a love/hate relationship I am having with them also. I have never had such a demanding (especially of time) plant in my life, and since I work 12 hour days, I do not have that much time on those days. I guess I will see what happens by next summer to see if I will continue with them or make a trip to the local nursery to see if THEY will adopt them for me.
Earthling....when I was going to leave on our 7 week trip...I tricked the gal at my Chripractors office. I told her that I had 7 buds just fixing to open of the most beautiful flowers!! She fell for it and only had to destory half the leaves while I was gone she said...SPIDER MITES! I never did go back an retrieve it...so she took it home with her....but the patients got to enjoy all those nice blooms I worked so hard to bring about!! I did my duty!! Jo
That's a good way to get people hooked on brugs Jo! Glad to see you're spreading the addiction!
I was wondering how that brug we took to MD was doing. Glad to know there are some in your family who aren't brug killers!!!(just kidding ya)
boy - you aren't kidding when you say "love/hate relationship". Makes me wish I was Paula and could hire a garderner to do it for me (just the brugs, of course). I can't wait til next year when I get my first blooms (highly doubt it's happening this year - I grew mine from seed). I just toil, in the meantime. Oh yeah, today is feeding day.
Cala...I just went by to see Buttonwillow...(Rosalie)...she had me a big bag of devils claws!! She has lots of Brugs so if I get a "hankering" I can go over and look at hers....OR you could BRING me some. You still owe me a visit anyhow. Jo
I know Jo. I sure miss our wild travels. I'm just gonna have to pack up the wagon and head west.
Jo I can't believe you are giving up after I tutored you all winter. lol With as much traveling as you do it's probably a good idea.
Peggy, I do appreciate all the help you gave me...now let's move on to helping me with something else.....like cooking!! Jo
Cooking? Cooking?....
"Shrimp, sauteed, wrapped in kombu (resembling Brug leaves) , served with RICE and garnished with pickled okra (resembling Brug pods)."
Need the recipe, RR? ;>)
You know I DON'T do RICE! Thanks, though (SEND SHRIMP)!! Jo
But shrimp is good with rice Jo.
Hey Shoe, if you want shrimp, you should come here, they have it on the docks when the boats come in.
Oh My...I just might have to make a detour in Oct!! Jo
