Antique Lace, When I was at Traceys,I was telling her how I liked the little Whites, she told me I had to try AL,well as always she was right,I love it!! Can't wait to smell it tonight.
Little Cutie
Wow Rooty! What a beauty! I love it! I have an AL from Tracey and some little monster worm has eaten a small hole in each of the buds! If only I could find this little monster! I'm going out to get BT. Keep us up to date on the smell! I love it!
Such a cute little bloom. Mine is budded and not far from blooming. Can't wait to see it in person.
It reminds me of that little one you had last fall Shirley, fit in your hand.
Yep. I love to have a little variety in the brugs. My arborea is blooming right now. It blooms one or two at a time, but once it Y's, I think I'll get more blooms.
Its so tiny and cute!!!!!
I love it!!
One of my favorites! Isn't she just sweet.
Now that is adorable!
It is a keeper Tracey, you were so right! I will have it in a pot on the deck next year!
Beware it gets big! Mine has been cut on, and cut on and it a good 10ft! Just covered in blooms and would be beautiful if it were not for these stinken cucumber beetles!!!
One of my absolute favorites! Mine has bloomed a couple of times already, and has buds right now. It also has a seedpod growing on it that is getting bigger all the time! I love small flowers, especially those with long tendrils, and this one smells fabulous, too!
I am suffering from those also Tracey. I used Ortho systemic spray but I am afraid it is not for cucumber beetles! Shoot! I need a systemic that is, any ideas?
This one is adorable. But alas, so many brugs and so little room!
Great looking bloom, Root. I have a rooted cutting so it'll be awhile before I see blooms.
Thanks all,I just checked no scent yet.
If you find something for those dang beetles,I want to know!
Mavrik (a synthetic pyrethroid) is supposed to be very effective against cucumber beetles. It's also considered low-toxicity for animals and birds and easy on the bees as well. Unfortunately it's rather expensive. I am using Merit, which has good systemic action and kills all bugs, including the !@#$@#!$! cucumber beetles. I just have to hope the poor bees aren't trying to visit my brugs :-( I have many other flowers in my yard in a large "no spray" garden that's much more attractive for the bees and butterflies than my brugs.
[Edited to add the following]
Talstar is another synthetic pyrethroid that is effective against cucumber beetles with low toxicity to animals. If I keep having problems with cucumber beetles I am going to try either Mavrik or Talstar in hopes of being easier on the bees. I like the Merit because it's instantly lethal to Japanese beetles but JB's have not a problem on brugs for me. Now that I've seen Gretchen's pictures of brugs with bees I'm starting to feel reluctant about the Merit.
FYI - The best place to find these "professional" products is usually on the web, unless you have an agricultural supply store locally. These products are expensive, but worth it because a little bit goes a long way - one small container will last a long time. They are applied at a very low rate (minimizing environmental damage), are less toxic to people and animals than older insecticides, and don't stink or cause foliage burn.

I have been using Ortho,I may go to the Merit.
Will Merit ruin the blooms? I have Talstar too. Wondered the same about it.
Oh Rooty! She is just too cute!!
The name fits well.
I had one bloom on mine, Root. It's still a small plant. I was surprised it bloomed this small.
Tracey, I think you have a secret fertilize lab in that greenhouse range! I have never seen her get that big! Whatcha feedin that brug???
I didn't think I'd miss AL, but now I do. Waaaaaaah. I'm gonna raid your yard Root!
So where do I get Merit?
Come on Susie,I'll even lend you a shovel!
My antique lace is very big, too. Probably 8 or 9 feet tall.
That is just too cute. (I can't have them all, I can't have them all over and over).
Kell, you can get it through Rosemania.
Merit is Imidacloprid, which is the same ingredient in the Bayer systemic tree and shrub insect control.
Oh, the Bayer rose stuff is different. Maybe that's where I went wrong. But so many insects are getting immune to Imidicloprid, it doesn't work as well anymore.
Do the small flowered brugs grow from smaller leaved, shorter plants?
This one does not,it is a full sized plant, and the leaves are normal.
Mine is more than full sized, it has to be at least 9 feet tall.
What a sweetheart of a bloom, Mary! I really love it. I have small buds on mine that Tracey sent! I'm getting really excited now! Hopefully I have my 'cat' problem under control now!
Ain't that just the cutest Brug.
She really is cute. My first one opened and one of the tendrils got stuck and came off.
Mary, that is adorable, I REALLY like this one, especially since your zone is right next door to mine. Do you winter yours outside??? I would expect so, since your plant is so tall. I'd love to have one of these!!!
I really can't be looking at all these special ones. I have no room I have no room! I am going to repeat this 100 times. This winter I will have to move my brugs into the house and I will be stuck living in the hoophouse.
