Hello, I am very glad to see that you are excited about the Butterfly Weed. You are in for a lot of fun watching the butterflies and collecting the seed. It is a good idea to collect it before the pod totally opens or you will hace a lot of trouble separating it from the silk.
I have found that for planting seed in the open garden the best method is to take a small pinch of seed, push it into the soil and cover it.
It seems to like it when there are a few seeds together and it germinates better.
Sincerely, Josephine Keeney.

I've been growing it for about three years now. I LOVE milkweed! I have Soulmate and Cinderella swamp milkweed, Common, tuberosa and tropical. I'm in the process of making a prairie flower bed and different species of milkweed will be going in there.

I think you asked me for common milkweed seeds and I didn't think that my plants were going to seed. Well they did so if you email me in the fall, I'll have some available.

Thank you very much, you are very kind. I will be sure to email you in the fall. I have seed for Texas star, Hibiscus coccineus, and for purple
cone flower Echinacea so if you need some seed from these I'll be glad to send it to you. Sounds like your prairie flower bed will be a lot of fun.
Sincerely, Josephine.
