I found this at the Plant Sale in Honolulu (Yes...I forked out the bucks and went...on the off chance...). Actually I found some wonderful new gingers and heliconias...
but...back to Hoyas. Turns out the hoya we all want as H. merrillii is one of those big???? and it is really CMF-9. Big trinerved leaves that turn red in the sun and big clusters of small yellow flowers.
No need to ask me if I bought it...I bought 4! They were small!
H. merrillii
I hope you enjoy your plant as much as I have enjoyed mine.
Thank you for the CMF-9 number, how do you know that, and where can I obtain information regarding their assigned #. Who assignes these numbers? I'm just curious, and that is the only reason I ask these questions. Thanks, Norma
LOL...been here for 3 years and my first trip to Honolulu...big cities scare me!!
Norma: The hoya, CMF-9 was sent to Chris Burton way back when by Charles Marden Fitch a well known photographer who was also a member of HSI. He sent a number of cuttings, this one given the designation #9. Apparently Kloppenberg found it and declared it to be Schlecters publication.
