Free yellow daylily

Anyone from around Winnipeg want a big chunk of this one you are welcome to it. It's big. Don't know it's name. Have had it forever and it's clump forming, doesn't spread. Have a large orange one too and a few other freebies. Sorry, will not ship. Please be a Dave's Garden subscriber.

Made you look.

;) So when are you coming through SK?

Don't know. When somebody dies I guess. That seems to be the only time we get there.

Victoria, BC(Zone 8b)

LOL, well you better not be travelling through SK anytime soon then, at least for a while, nothing against you Lilypon...

If you ever come to fort erie I would love some I would let you pick through my daylilies no problem. those big yellow ones are 20 dollars for a double fan around here ,shawn

Nope I don't wish those trips on anyone.

Shawn, they couldn't be. These must be so common. I've had them forever. Probably thirty years. I've moved them all over my yard, now I have big heavy clumps I can't even dig up. If you want to pay the postage, I'll send you some, but after the last plants I sent in the mail, I didn't think it worth it. You can buy things locally for the same as postage. Could wash all the soil off, but not sure if that's good to do late in the season. I'll try and find a pic with the whole plant.

Pam, most people try to fly over Saskatchewan, and pretend it isn't there when they head west. We usually turn around and go home after the trees and hills stop.

Oh Echoes it's not that bad...we've had many Easterners come into the library that have enjoyed the trip and the more subtle prairie beauty between Winnipeg and Moose Jaw. However the trip between here and Calgary seems to push the prairie experience for many. ;)

We are actually getting a large number of tour buses from the States now ... the Tunnels, Claybank Brick Factory, the Wild Animal Park, where Sitting Bull camped (after leaving the States), our famous Temple Gardens Mineral Spa, are very popular draws that the Americans have enjoyed immensely and feel should be advertised more. As well as some of the architecture around town...the library I work at has had many unsolicitated positive comments from people all over North America as well as from overseas visitors.

DH says where's MB??? ;)

Guess he doesn't remember his geography. I know Saskatchewan fairly well, been to Sakatoon, Regina, Yorkton, Rosetown, Togo, Langenberg, Melville, and a few I can't remember the names of. Don't think I've ever visited the Jaw of de Moose though. You got hills and trees there? or is that out on the bald prairieeee.

Shawn, here is a bigger view.

The bald prairie certainly surrounds us but Moose Jaw is in a valley and the trees do fill it, in and out of town. We have a number of very pretty parks in and surrounding our fair little city.

yep thats them funny how down here they are hard to find and when you do they are expensive and up there they grow like crazy !!!!!!!!!!!!! we have the orange ones that grow like crazy around here

Those orange ones are ditch lilies. What some people call garden thugs. H. fulva. The common species yellow is H. flava, but I'm not sure if it spreads. I wouldn't put fulva in my yard unless I had a space to fill, where you didn't plan on ever growing anything else and you could stand that color of orange. You need to make some local gardening friends. They will gladly share these types of plants with you.

Pam, so you're an oasis in the desert. Once you get there it's wonderful. it's just the gettin there. I know that a lot of SK is way more beautiful than other Canadians realize, but maybe it's better that way. Too many intruders would spoil it. It's like when you want to enjoy the great outdoors and you get to YOUR campground at YOUR lake and you can't get in cause its full of tourists.

there is a new introduction in Veseys cat. "Boogie Woogie".........I ordered five of them....E.

Elaine, you're talking OT lilies, now, aren't you. Some of us got a free Boogie Woogie from Botanus with our orders this spring. Mine has yet to bloom of course. Too much shade I think.

When I go to Vesey's they show Boogie 3/10.95 or 6/19.95. They must have changed something. And the picture isn't very useful.

Just tried to put Boogie Woogie on Inanda Lilies but guess there is a limit or something because it won't go. Hm.... Supose ....
Masybe Echoes will show me how to make a web site. This is not a hint. It is more than that. Wish we could put more than one picture per message.

Hey Echoes,

I'll swop you some yellow hems for Valarian and Shasta. Yes? No? Do you have any lilies left? (Hems not lilium)
Inanda

Yes, yes, I have a shovel for you. You can dig tomorrow.

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 2b)

Echoes, you know you kept saying we have forgotten something. Well, it was the hems that we forgot.
ho ho ho
Inanda

I didn't forget. Offered you shovel. You weren't thinking of new garden. Next week?
