This little baby has seven tendrils. Its Insignis Gold X Ember Glow by J.T. Sessions. Seeds started January 28, planted in the ground April 15th. I'm sure excited by all these fun, new buds!

Denver, CO(Zone 5b)

Holy cow! LOL You are doing so good with all your babies Gretchen! Congratulations!

Lima, OH(Zone 5a)

You sure know how to grow those seeds!

WOW, is that cute or what, Gretchen, I cannot wait to see what you get, woo woo!!!!!!!!!

Raleigh, NC(Zone 7b)

Wow - I thought brugs only had 5 or 6. I guess 7s are rare?

GOD's Green Earth, United States(Zone 8b)

Monika posted here not too long ago regarding this. I think anything over 6 is considered not the "norm", but I could be wrong about that.

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

It happens once in a while. Seeing one with seven tendrils doesn't mean it will happen again either. Mine that did this back in 2001 never did it again for me. They sure are huge blooms though.

Columbia, SC(Zone 8a)

Has it opened? We need an update.

GOD's Green Earth, United States(Zone 8b)

Hopefully she'll be fully open tonight. Its been 102 degrees here all afternoon and all the brugs are suffering, I'm afraid...

Hot Springs, AR(Zone 7b)

Kannapolis, NC(Zone 7b)

Vancleave, MS(Zone 8b)

gretchen did you send a pic to Vicki at ABADS?? It's beautiful

GOD's Green Earth, United States(Zone 8b)

Thank you Ada and Donna! No, I haven't sent one yet. I've had a house full of my husband's family for the past few days, and its been a scramble to get anything done. Plus, I just found out I'm going to be a Grandma! My husband's 29 yo daughter who's been married for 6 years is finally expecting. I'm so excited that I can't see straight!!!

I'll try to get it done this evening or tomorrow.

Donna,

Where are the grandbaby pictures???? :-(

SE Arky, United States(Zone 8a)

Gretchen, I've never seen a more unusual brug, grown by someone I actually 'know'. It is beautiful and sooooo different - I love it and hope it grows true for you!! You look entirely too young to be a granny and I sincerely hope that you enjoy it as much as I have. I have 7 and both their moms and all the kids and I garden together and there is nothing more fun!!!

GOD's Green Earth, United States(Zone 8b)

Thanks Sherry! That's so kind!!! I'm truly, truly excited about being a Granny...we were wondering if it was ever going to happen...
