Deb, she is a beaut. Do you happen to remember the name of the one you ordered for me? There is no tag in the pot and I can't remember. I do have buds now. Can't wait to see what I have. LOL!

Grass Lake, MI(Zone 5a)

Shirley ... it should be Erika Nichole. I have buds on the Jimmie John that should be openeing within the next couple days.

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

Thanks. I'll go tag it.

Birmingham, AL(Zone 8a)

OK I am not even a hibiscus person but I've gotta have it. Let me know when you prune!!!

Grass Lake, MI(Zone 5a)

I will do my best ... haven't had any luck rooting one yet!

New Iberia, LA(Zone 9a)

Wow that's so beautiful.

Birmingham, AL(Zone 8a)

Neither have I but people on some forums talk about rooting them like its nothing...what's the deal? Obviously there's a deep dark conspiracy here...;}

The Heart of Texas, TX(Zone 8b)

What a beauty! I really love this one.

Delphinium, they aren't hard to root. Molly Mc sent me some cuttings when she trimmed hers about a month ago. I recut the ends, stuck in rooting hormone and then some sandy wet soil in pots. They are growing like crazy. Now I just have to transplant to the yard. Just hope the heat doesn't do them in. This was my first time to try them and it worked. You can do it if I did. Jenny

Birmingham, AL(Zone 8a)

Q sh - how long were the cuttings? Were they new wood or old and did you leave most of the leaves on or take them off? Thanks for the info!

Woodville, TX(Zone 8a)

Cuttings were about 12 inches long. I took most of the leaves off so most of the growth would be to the roots. I'm not sure how old the wood was. It wasn't very thick so I assume it was fairly new. I just rooted what she sent me. All of the cuttings didn't root, most did. Hope this helps. Jenny

Delph,
I get best results with semi ripened wood. Especially with tropicals such as this one.

Waterloo,
Please put me down on your list for cuttings too under Delph. I would love to try rooting this one.

Birmingham, AL(Zone 8a)

Thanks Bug - I would have used new wood and it would prob die in two days. Funny how some things gotta use one, some the other. Tried vitex with new wood - no luck. Semi ripe does fine.

Waterloo I will be sooooooooo nice to you if you get me one of these! Wait a minute - you are a Kong person, I've already been nice to you! Okay, I'll be nice some more!! :))

We'll wheedle some out of her sooner or later Bug!

Navarre (NW FL), FL(Zone 8b)

And I'll be just as nice. I'm currently rooting some others. Hibiscus are addictive.

Birmingham, AL(Zone 8a)

Uh oh, not another one...all I need, another plant addition to eat up the grocery money!

Adrian, MI(Zone 5b)

Absolutely BEAUTIFUL!!
Great name, too!

Deb: IS it a tropical
or hardy hibiscus??
I have started several
hardy in 32oz glasses
& they are growing new
leaves but no roots yet
after 2 weeks.

I started with 6"
cuttings & cut the top
& bottoms off at an
angle & left 2 sets of
leaves,I also cut off
1" up from bottom &
about one forth" wide
strips on each side
for better rooting.

You will have better
luck if you cut off
all of the top growth
so the roots will have
a chance to grow & the
type of water might
make a difference!! But
I use mine right out of
the tap. (some water
might have to much lyme
in it).

Grass Lake, MI(Zone 5a)

It is a tropical hibiscus. It has been blooming since I got it but has really not grown alot. But I will try and get some cuttings rooted.
