help I E problem or java script

It seem that when you open IE that it loops and eats up your memory though i had it out and it worked for a while have run adware and avg and find nothing the puter works fine as long as you stay out of IE I tried to put an old version of Navagator on to see if it would work but got the loop running on java script error just kept putting up tabs IE is showing an error and then blue screen then you have to reboot
Any ideals would be helpful i do have a copy of IE 6.0 and a latter version of navagator so i can deleat can't do total install A family member thought they need my 98 disk more that in did
