pics of new pond to share

Van Tassell, WY(Zone 4a)

Wanted to share a pic of my pond. Been working on it since March. Have a lot of landscaping to do around it yet but gardens are supposed to be an ever evolving project, right.:)
What do you think?

Drooling over the water fall. You are pushing a lot of water in a hour. How big is your pump and what size pond is it.
And no shortage of rock by the looks of those outcrops in the background.

Hi everyone, was gone for a couple of days with my job. I have a 1/2 hp berkley pump that pumps 160 gal/min. my water hasn't cleared up yet. wondering if I am going to have to install another filter system. Right now just have the aquafalls and skimmer. It is 16,000 gal pond. Thanks for the comments. It is nice to have some other opinions besides the cows. :)

All I can say is WOW! Can't wait to see pictures as you start planting.

Pond?? That's a lake! LOL It is gorgeous too! I think you need some plants to help with the water.

Van Tassell, WY(Zone 4a)

I think you are right Badseed about the plants. I have a few, but for the size I am going to need more. I have to drive so far to find places that have pond plants, and then this time of the year they are already sold out. I was hoping to get some parrot feather or something else like it but it was all gone. So for this year I will just have to keep repotting the existing plants as they grow and I divide them. I will send pics as I keep working on it. I have to haul a ton more rocks in from the pasture to go around the outside beds and then I can start on them. And as you can see in the pic, I am trying to get grass started, but it might be too hot here already. Just have to wait and see. Thanks for the compliments, you are all very kind. :)

Ebay always has some good sounding deals on pond and aquatic plants.

Thanks a lot rikerbear. I made a bid, we will see what happens.

What other kinds of plants do you want? Do you have fish? Good luck on your bid!!

Van Tassell, WY(Zone 4a)

I think I need plants that will cover the pond quickly to shade the water. I have some koi and some shubunkins in the pond now. total 18 ranging from 3" to 12". I am hoping that the parrot feather will do the trick. I have 4 lillies, some cattails, water plantain, varigated rush, giant reed, water hyacinths and candy stripe reed right now. And as they fill the containers, I will divide them to make more.

That is wonderful. I assume the fish will stay out for the winter? How deep did you dig? Earth bottom or liner?

Van Tassell, WY(Zone 4a)

I dug it 3 1/2 ft deep on the shallow end and 4ft deep on the deepest end. I am hoping the it wont freeze clear to the bottom and my fish will be ok through the winter. I used a liner.

GiJane, here is another auction from Ebay for more bulk pond plants. I thnk it may be the same seller as what your already bidding on.

GiJane, I see you won your Ebay auction for the pond plants.
Hopefully they will arrive healthy and ready to grow big and strong in your pond. :-)
