Just wondering the best way to do this. I've noticed fallen seeds around the plants, but they are too tiny to try to pick up. Should I just cut a bunch and shake them over a piece of paper, or harvest just the dried blooms and then...?
How do you collect chamomile seeds?
Harvast the dried blooms. Cut a bunch off, stems and all and put in a brown paper grocery sack. Rub the top of the seedhead into the paper sack, some will be the chaff, but you will get many seeds in with it. Transfer seed and chaff to whatever you want to save it in untill ready to plant. I usually save seeds untill spring to sow.
Thanks, Debby! I wasn't sure if rubbing them would be ok. I wondered if that would break the seeds. Now I know...
Clairelise: Your welcome. It is almost impossible to remove the chaff on some seeds. It doesn't hurt at all to have the chaff included with the seeds, and you won't hurt the seeds by rubbing them off.
