What factors influence bloom?

If you could pinpoint the most important thing - or maybe the top 2 or 3 most important things - to get brugs to make buds and bloom, what would it (they) be?

I'm talking about sun/shade, water, feedings, foliar feedings, age of plant, temperature, time of year, etc.

I know, I should just buy the book and then I would have all the answers, right? But in the meantime, I'd love to hear your opinions on the subject.

I'm a newbie. I sowed seeds on January 27-29, 2004. The seedlings were planted in the ground around April 15th. By July 4th, most all were blooming (unfortunately I was on vacation and came home to spent blooms on the ground). I have fed them one application of Bayer All in One for Roses and Flowers in May, and feed them various organic fertilizers each week. The brugs that I left in containers are no where near the blooming stage, and have exhibited very little growth. Hope this is helpful to you :) Gretchen

PS Those that I have in full sun are doing much better than those in partial and/or full shade...

Thanks Gretchen. It seems like everyone is posting pictures of bloom after bloom, or plants loaded with flowers. I've only gotten 3 cuttings to bloom so far, and none of my seedlings have y'd yet. I guess I'll move the seedlings (still in pots) to a sunnier spot. I have a "Solid Gold" in the ground which shot up to over 5 ft tall then y'd a couple times, but no buds are forming. Maybe I have to be more patient.

Well, I'm glad I could help... And, I wish you blessings with your babies :)
