Very pretty shot. I've submitted a photo to add to this entry. We'll see :) How old are your spireas?

A friend of mine gave me this plant this year...hers spreads a lot so she just gave me a chunk of it and it really took off. I am looking forward to seeing your picture. Mine is more clear if viewed at full size...I reduced the size to upload it.

So your friend just gave you a division? or a cutting that you rooted? Don't know much about propagating these guys. We planted 5-6 little ones this year. It'd be fun later on to give some to friends :) Thanks!

I guess they spread a lot through new suckers from the crown...my friend gave me a division that she just shoveled off from her big plant and it has grown quite a bit since.

Thanks for the info :) By the way, is there a story behind your user name???

Piedmont, MO(Zone 6a)

Toxicodendron radicans is the latin for Poison Ivy (which was taking over my property and I am highly allergic to it). When I thought about joining Dave's, I figured most of the appealing plants' names were taken already as IDs so I tried Toxicodendron and it worked!
Since then, I have eradicated a lot of the poison ivy by spraying it and cutting out the huge vines going up my trees. I still see seedlings popping up a lot, though, so it will be a continuous battle.
A lot of folks call me Toxi, which is much easier to type, ha.

Got it, Toxi :) Well, thanks for the Spiraea info and the chats. I'm afraid I'm going to have to disappear from DG for a few weeks or so. I'm having a baby sometime in the next 10 days!!! LOL. Really! So, enjoy the rest of this beautiful fall and hopefully we can reconnect later on! Thanks again!

Hugs

Best of luck with your delivery...hope you get a beautiful healthy baby!

Toxi, these spirea blooms add so a lovely delicate look to the garden. I prune the spent blooms off after the first blooming period and they continue to bloom for quite sometime. I just noticed that mine have some new buds for some reason. They should be starting to go somewhat dormant now. Nice photo by the way.

Thanks for the 'best wishes' Toxi! Did you see my cute little spirea made the PDB??!! Fun.
Found out that baby gets 'evicted' Tuesday at 8am if not sooner. Very, very exciting! Take care :)

Thanks for the compliment, Hazel....actually the original picture is very crisp and I sometimes use it full size as a background picture...too bad it lost resolution when resized so much. Guess we should take smaller pics...my DH likes to keep the camera set at 2500 X 1950 pixels (or something real close to that).

Thanks for your posting, too, Hugahosta....I now see that I should move mine to more sun because it is being shaded by a huge miscanthus and is not showing any fall color at all! I was not expecting the plant and so I just stuck it in a bed without much planning. Happens a lot, LOL.
