Here is the first night of the first bloom on this brug. Seeds were started January 29, 2004. Its a small bloom - about 7" and has no scent as of yet. The color is actually a very pale lemon yellow.
Finally I get to see a bloom! Most of my seedlings bloomed while I was on vacation, so I'm hoping there will be a second flush...
Whiskers X ? by T. McLeod
Beautiful bloom! How is the scent on this one? It sure is pretty!
Thanks, Melba! This one has no scent, but her sister is opening up tonight too and has a deeper color and very strong scent, much like a Frosty. I'm going to post of picture of her too, once she's fully open.
Looks like that bee was enjoying a feast or just wanted his picture taken. Pretty brug bloom Gretchen.
Thanks Shirley -- the bees love all my brugs! May end up with some interesting babies next year... That is if I can keep a pod until they ripen.
Very pretty! It looks a bit like Sunray... is Sunray also a hybrid of Whiskers?
I have a Sunray, but I'm not sure of the lineage. I believe it was hybridized by Eclipse. And, Sunray might be older than Whiskers. Someone else might be able to answer your question...
Pretty star pattern there! Too bad there isnt a scent yet.
They both are pretty Gretchen!
Thanks y'all!
Another pretty! Your brugs are looking very good. Must be all the rain we have had...lol.
Hi Pam -- thanks! Actually, I came close to losing all the driveway brugs due to rot, three of those ended up kicking the bucket. I'll have to replace them in the Spring as they were in very conspicuous places...we're now dry as a bone here! Texas gardening is feast or famine LOL!
beautiful gretchen. I love the stripping
Thanks, Donna! The first night it had no scent, but last night it had a nice, light fragrance. She looks like she's going to be a good bloomer -- loaded with buds -- I do hope though that her color deepens and her blooms get a little larger.
