FYI: A hoya sale!

Decatur, IN(Zone 5a)

Just finished placing my order and thought maybe some of you would like to know that this site is having a 50% off sale on 5 not so commonly found hoyas. Here is the link http://www.bigislandgrowers.com/members/grower_home_page.php?grower_id=6
Now to figure out how to sneak the pkg. in the door past DH when it arrives, he, he!.

BTW, since I know that curious minds will want to know. I ordered two of the hoyas on sale, H. obtusifoliades, H. australis variagated form and two regular priced ones, H. calycina & H. sariae.

Thanks Gemila. I'm trying to reach them but my email is acting up. Sounds like a good deal.

Well, I have no self control-LOL!-Mention sale and I am there...
I've ordered all but the arnottiana and variegated australis, only because I already have those 2.

Good deals!

Just tell DH the box is full of special ingredients for cookies...his favorite. Works for me every time!!!

But then.....UGH....I have to bake something! Hard to bake in this heat!

SW, WI(Zone 4b)

Hmm...I emailed but didn't receive a reply....dang...prolly too late, now!

Decatur, IN(Zone 5a)

Susan, I was thinking of you when I posted. I often forget to frequently check some websites and often miss the sales. This time, I happened to be in the mood for browsing and low' and behold, I saw the 50% off. Don't feel bad.... I had them hold my order a couple weeks or so and of course as soon as I got a few bucks in my pocket I went back and ordered some more....I'm doomed!! :)

Carol, I wish I could trick him like that....he's too smart. Although I could tell him you are sending me some fresh coconuts to make him his favorite "good & crunchy cookies", he!he!.

Nan, if you haven't gotten a reply email me and I'll give you their email addy.

Decatur, IN(Zone 5a)

YOu know, this edit feature is great! but thought maybe I'll just let my previous post stay and let you guys have a good laugh...go ahead, its ok.

Carol, I just realized I contradicted myself. I just won't tell him how many plants are in the box. I'll let him think its only one ;)

SW, WI(Zone 4b)

Got it all straightened out, Gemila, thanks so much for offering to help.

OK, so I placed my order....but there were 2 others I *really* *really* wanted.....I'm building character by waiting until later to order them, right?!

TUCSON, AZ(Zone 9a)

Twiggy LoL Carol is this your business. Nice Web site. Well done. Do you know anything about H. Metallica I can't find any formation, I have the plant. Who introduced it, where was it found. Where did they get the name, or who named it?
A lot of questions but my boss wants to know. Thanks, Norma

Keaau, HI(Zone 11)

Norma - Yes and thanks.

I am starting another thread about H. 'Metallica'.

Keeping in the theme of sales, Have you all cast your eyes on the hoya that AlohaHoya has up for auction! It's Hoya cv. Noelle! I love it!! Just when I think I can lay off hoyas, another must-have appears!! We'll have to get after Carol as to why that one was not on sale!!

Susan

Celaya, Mexico(Zone 10a)

Ohhh H. cv. Noelle, does it come with Santa Claus? ------BG-----

When will this Lady stop tempting us poor Hoya collectors?

It's all that sun and fresh air in hoya-land! She can't help herself. I mean, who else do we know who goes to Honolulu for the day!!!! I can only dream!!!

Decatur, IN(Zone 5a)

To whom may be concerned and in a hurry to own one:
I did some detective work and this Hoya cv. Noelle aka H. vitellina x H. vitellinoides, is the same plant that is available for sale on the website. If you click on the link I gave in my first post, then click on Catalog, then scroll down and go to page 11. Once there you go to the fourth plant listed and ''WHALAH!!" you are there. The one in the auction is tempting though but I see a friend is trying to win it ;)

Gemila

Yes, Awanda has beat us to it!!!!!!

Mesa, AZ(Zone 9a)

Ladies, if I win the bid, I will share....pictures:-)

Blessings,
Awanda aka fast finger clark

Decatur, IN(Zone 5a)

Susan, notice she said 'Pictures', so don't get your hopes up too much. LOL!

Awanda, we know you'll give it a loving home. Good luck! ;)

Gemila

Ha! Ha! Hee! Hee! I think I already have this plant/same parent plant!!!

Btw, those of you who ordered hoyas from Ms. N, I received my tribe today and they are so awesome!!!!

Susan

Mesa, AZ(Zone 9a)

I'm happy I got out-bid on this plant, I already have it! Yet another senior moment!!

Blessings,
Awanda

TUCSON, AZ(Zone 9a)

Who is MS N ? I did put a bid on the hoya book on e-bay. did any of you see it? But its not over for 6 more days. $ 35.00. but Hoyas Books are hard to find. I also ordered some from Rainbow Gardens. I hope they are some that will help me. also have some info coming from Christine Burton. :))) Binky

TUCSON, AZ(Zone 9a)

Well Girls , I got my order today!:)))) I am so happy with them. I got H.Aeistralis, H. Purporso-Fusca, H. Arnettiana and H. Vitellina. What wonderful plants. Now if I can just not kill them!! :))) Been trying to read as much as I can. I was told just to go over the past forums and you will learn a lot. Alot of good help there. Thanks for letting us know about the sale. Mary

Keaau, HI(Zone 11)

Binky...when you receive your hoyas fresh out of the box...it's a good idea to keep them in low light for a week or so and gradually introduce them to higher light....

Also, give them a nice shower, hydrating the leaves and wetting them thoroughly...resist repotting if you think they need it for a couple of weeks.

You probably know all of these things already...but there are times I get so excited I forget...

Carol

Binky:Ms N is a nickname for Carol Noel, a hoya guru.

TUCSON, AZ(Zone 9a)

A BIG Thank-You to both.Carol. you have a e-mail :))

No I didn't know that. I am so glad you told me. Binky :))))))

Keaau, HI(Zone 11)

HUH?

Just a fellow traveller... Don't gurus sit around contemplating their navels..? well...I can't see mine anymore!!!
