Howdy from a Kentucky girl transplanted to Maryland 10 years ago. I moved into this current home with a bit less than an acre 4 years ago and it was literally a blank slate. Its former owners were definitely inside people and had a total of 4 perennials, a few daffodil bulbs and a couple of shrubs. We are bordered by woods though, which was a good reason to buy the property and make it mine. I have worked like a woman obsessed for 4 years and am finally seeing the "bones" of my garden appear. I am continuing to move the flesh around as I have planted most things too close in my impatience to have immediate results. I don't know how to include more than one photo, but I will try. I posted one on the photo forum this morning and I felt like I was sending my child to school for the first time to be evaluated by the teacher.
Newly addicted in Maryland
Welcome to DG your gonna love it here. I am not one of the teachers definatly in the student category here. But IMHO you have a beautiful garden. See you around the garden .
Sandy
Hey, glad to see you found the welcome mat! Nice garden, too! Sorry, you can only post one picture per post. Just keep posting the pix tho, we all love to see someone else's pix. You might want to add your zone, then if you have questions, it's easier for the experts (not me, ha ha) to help you. (go to preferences, then location)
Welcome to Daves Garden. I love your picture and especially the white butterfly bush, (budleia). Keep up the good work and always remember....we love pictures. LOL!
Welcome from the West Coast. There is always something new to learn here and we have some great tried and true gardens here to prove it. I have loved to garden all my life, but have become a real gardener for the past 4 years.
You can only post 1 photo per message, but you can continue posting your pictures in the same thread by just coming back to your post and do another one.
Donna
Welcome from South Carolina.
Your garden is beautiful!!
On the right hand side of the picture, way in the back, you have several pots on a stand-is it a ladder? Looks very nice.
Thanks everyone, for your warm welcome. Now I can see why people enjoy these sorts of websites/forum thingies. Birds of a feather do get along well, don't they?
Yes C-Cactus--that's a ladder I pilfered from the landfill. Saved it from its destiny. There was a whole pile of them and now I wish I had gotten them all!
Thanks SoCal, for the advice, I hadn't thought about it that way. I will try that now, the photo I posted before really didn't show the pond. It's my pride. My son, then 15, came up and said he wanted to do the water garden as his project. He designed it and we dug that baby by hand. He worked really hard on many aspects of it. He still likes to come out and gloat when people check it out for the first time.
It does my heart good to hear that we do have some great kids-doing good things!! You are Blessed with having a great boy!!
gumlla, that is so sweet for you to share your beautiful marigolds to one of our new comers-that really touched my heart!! Proves gardeners are the 'Best' folks there is :)
Hello earthwormlover! Great to see a new arrival! Your garden looks very pretty!
Why don't you pop over to the European forum? We've been a bit quiet lately, so we would welcome a few visitors!!!! If you're very very good I might invite you to sit down in one of my squashy sofas while I prepare a cream tea for us all!!!!
I'm a mature student at uni, so not much time to prettify my garden just now. But I do go on occasional jaunts at the weekend with my camera. And post them here, on some of the forums. I have posted several photos of the countryside near my home, earlier today. So if you go into the European Forum you'll see that one of the recent posts has a couple of dozen posts - I'm in there sowmewhere!! There's some pictures of a marsh, orchids, swans, and some ducklings I think. See you there!

Thanks gumlla for your lovely gift. How are you so familiar with the english names for so many flowers? I am not surprised you know english, so many people all over the world are multi-lingual, except Americans ;( But I am surprised you know the english names for what you grow. For example, do you know you sent me marigolds?
I will check back later. Need to pop over to the European forum.
I love gardening and have books about plants ,some friends like you sent me books pld and new, after studying these names are now familiar to me.
We have a lots of plants and next year I will have many moor, now through trading I get many seeds ,which are new for us .
My English is not too good ,As this language is not my mother tounge ,Thanks God I can express my thoughts and love to others, and God give me friends like all of you who ignore my mistakes.
Thanks
earthwormlover - welcome to daves garden. its a great place with friendly people. enjoy
Welcome, earthwormlover. I'm an ex-marylander from the Annapolis area, but not by birth.
Gumlla, you do much better in English than I would do in another language! Do not hesitate to post... no one cares about spelling and grammar as long as they get the general idea.
I love Maryland! I was worried when we moved here simply because I was concerned about the change. But I have made priceless friends and the climate and topography are similar. I love it.
Welcome to Dave's earthwormlover, that's a great handle. I've seen you here and there around the forums already and you have a beautiful yard - in only four years. And that boy of yours has a future in ponds I think. At least in landscaping hunh?
Welcome from your Home state! Your garden looks great :)
Hope you enjoy yourself here as much as I have.
Vicki
Thanks guys, interestingly, I just found the missing cds that contain my stored photos of my garden before I "did it". I thought I might post them for fun, but I'm not sure where. I have before and then photos from each year. Maybe on photos?
ewl, try Landscaping. Lots of before and after shots there.
