My L'Amour

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

She is pretty, but boy, would I love to have a tree full of blooms. Today, things are suffering. My Mountain Magic leaves look great but the blooms aren't handling the heat at all. They are droopy at best. L'Amour seems to handle it well as does Butterfly. Even EP is holding her blooms, tho she sure doesn't have many. LOL!

Just such a beautiful flower!! I love it!
I have one stinker (that will remain nameless) that just does NOT do well at all in the heat, the leaves wilt so bad by the end of the day, and its in the ground. I dont know what else to do. We dont usually get above 40-45% humidity, and the hottest part of the year isnt even here yet.

Shirley, your L'Amour has a beautiful color.

Brugie, you know that I'm new at these and I wondered if that is a Brug or a Datura? And what is the biggest difference?

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

My picture is a brug. The biggest difference between the two is that datura are short lived, basically annuals. Especially in the north. Brugs can be held over for years and years. They can get to be actual trees where they don't die back from freezes. Probably with good mulch, some brugs would live over in the ground in your area. However, they are a little slower to come back and bloom from what I've heard.

Oh Shirley, I think she is beautiful! I know the heat is miserable, but L'Amour is so pretty to me! I love your blooms!

Kannapolis, NC(Zone 7b)

Very pretty, Shirley.

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

Thanks you all. I wish she would bloom heavy for me before summer is over. Everything is starting to bud now, so within two or three weeks, I should have some blooms. Hang in there Karyn, you are a little behind us, so yours should start showing off soon.

Vancleave, MS(Zone 8b)

Shirley mine has really bloomed heavy this 3rd flush. She is one of few blooming in all this extreme heat and humidity. They are starting out lighter though but do darken up before it fades.

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

Thanks Donna. That means there is hope yet.

GOD's Green Earth, United States(Zone 8b)

Shirley -- I think she's just beautiful!

Matthews, MO(Zone 6b)

Thought you might enjoy seeing the differance from plant to plant here even thought they are both from the Mom, one is just older and bigger than the other.
