I'll be busy this evening.. :(

Pittsburgh, PA(Zone 6a)

Our cat has been frantically trying to get me up and look outside for several nights and now I know why. Unfortunately we have a critter that keeps getting into the pond during the night. What a mess it made last night. It also got up onto a table on our patio and knocked over my plastic container of fish food so half of it was gone. There weren't any teeth marks on the container though so the container itself is okay. Obviously I have to take that inside. We're not sure if it's a raccoon, opossom, (sp) or a cat. It keeps going into the pond and knocking over all my plants and making one heck of a mess on the bottom of the pond. All those rocks from inside the pots are everywhere. I'll most likely loose my miniture yellow lily from this last time. And it bloomed for the first time this year. :( Also have to do a head count on the fish. Covering with the netting won't work because the iris's, palm, and other plants will sit on the plant shelves in the pond and I can't cover them too.

Guess we'll set our live trap and try to catch whatever it is.

I'll be on "night watch" with our cat.

Try cutting holes in the netting to allow your plants through?
Good luck.

Fool thing would probably just get caught in the net and tear things up worse. Live trap is probably best bet.

DH set the live trap last night and BINGO!! Raccoon!! Boy am I ever pleased we got him. We'll set the trap again tonight just in case there's more.

I repotted my mini water lily. Cross your fingers it makes it.

Wow, success you first night! That's great. I was afraid they might sense something different and go elsewhere for a night or two. Hopefully you are just as successful tonight.
