I was just reading one of my grandmother's cookbooks; 1939 "Household Searchlight Recipe Book"; the best part has been her fly-page notes and one is so simple yet will be great:
Raspberry Cream Icing
1 cup cream, whipped
2/3 Tbls raspberrry jam
"use between layers"
