Beautiful, Don!

Birmingham, AL(Zone 8a)

Whoever called this thing a lady was out of his/her mind! Sorry Tman - my girl's gotcha beat! Watch out - she's a "Wild Thang!" Already ate the pole, a Burford holly and a buddliea and now she's going for the bench. This pic was after a hard rain so lots of blooms gone.

Bet those evergreens to the right of your pic are screaming "help! help! here she comes!" in plantese.

New Madison, OH(Zone 5a)

LOL...the stop sign in the background is appropriate! Nice picture!

Bushland, TX(Zone 6a)

Delp, looks like it's heading for your roof next!!LOL!
Stop sign is right!!!She's almost as vigorous as the incarnata.

Birmingham, AL(Zone 8a)

Actually that's the plant-and-pet-hating neighbor's roof. That lady is a smart girl...heh, heh...

Bushland, TX(Zone 6a)

Heh Heh!!LOL!

Birmingham, AL(Zone 8a)

Speaking of plant hating neighbors, I wonder if there are any rules against me planting a sycamore tree close to the property line? We really could use some shade over the cars...and all those big leaves look SO nice in the fall...

Citrus Heights, CA(Zone 9b)

They can cut where it hangs over the property line. What root system does it have? If they are invasive ,yes they may have a case , if not plant away!

Birmingham, AL(Zone 8a)

Think they have a taproot and grow straight up. REALLY TALL!!! They are only invasive in that they drop big fat leaves all over the place in fall. My neighboor is a lawn nazi. He will hate that. But I really want some shade.

Seattle, WA(Zone 8b)

You have to weigh your desire for shade against living with possible years of hard feelings between you and your neighbor.

Maybe ask his opinion on what tree he would hate the least...

The reverse happened to us with our neighbors...they cut down a wonderful shade tree Maple, destroying the shade garden I had spent years planting and bathing our bedroom in extreme afternoon sun and heat. I was beyond angry!
However I made my peace with them and the situation....easier than selling and moving LOL

Moose Jaw, SK(Zone 3b)

ROFLOL...can hardly wait to see your pics next year! Have you read your mail yet???

Brookeville, MD(Zone 7a)

Wait a minute-Lady Margaret is hardy in zone 6??? Or is there a pot and I just can't see it?

Ventura, United States(Zone 10b)

Don, those cuttings look great!

Actually, CaptMicha, Don started the thread off by talking about Passiflora Lavender Lady blooming, and I played on that by bringing up Passiflora Lady Margaret blooming. I believe Don brings his Passiflora Lavender Lady inside for the winter. My P. Lady Margaret stays outside all winter in my zone.

Citrus Heights, CA(Zone 9b)

I just adopted a girl from the exotic plants company Little actinia. She is a Passiflora hardy to low 20's and able to bear fruit. Clare I took your advice. Like before when you said buy a small pot(4in) . Those vines GROW FAST! The name means sea anemone. Pic

This is what it looked like. It has the little oval leaves.

Monterey that is a lovely flower!

Ventura, United States(Zone 10b)

Beautiful! Monterey, yes, Passifloras usually grow pretty quickly so you can save money by buying a small one instead of a larger one. I was at Home Depot the other day, and I watched a man purchase a fifteen-gallon Ipomoea indica. If he only knew that a)this vine grows faster than you can imagine, and b)this vine is very aggressive and invasive. If he had know those things, he would have bought something else. He'll find out when he has reems of vines crawling and reaching out for everything!

Mesilla Park, NM

Hi guys, I have not been able to get on here (Daves) too much this past month, my grandchlidren are visiting and keeping me busy, busy, busy... (CRAZY is what I mean)..

my lavender lady has a fruit on it.. yippee.... so does one that had the name tag pfordtii ( they both have fruit) and are blooming.. Incense is blooming nicely too, but doesn't make it over to the next day or the end of the day, they just melt in this heat... except Vitifolia, it is just like a timex... takes a licking and keeps on ticking.

Good to see all your photos tropicman..

Clare, when my company leaves in mid August, I will e-mail you... I will try rooting several kinds at that time, got the rooting plugs and trays last week, so will be ready to try rooting 12 or so types... will send and post photos later when I have some time for myself here. keep posting those great photos..

Hi Antointette! I got your email and sent you one back. Don't worry about rooting stuff for me! I'm officially out of room in my garden:-) Thanks though!

Gordonville, TX(Zone 7b)

I started a P. incarnata in late spring that I bought at Lowe's. It wasn't cheap and the sales clerk left half of it behind in the "jungle" they had it in but, I wanted one so bad, this year, that I bought it anway. I believe it is a native east or southeast of here (zone 7a). I seems to have come back some and flowers but does, suffer on hot days unless I water often (and deep).
