Can I use a gas BBQ to do pulled pork?

Hi Y'all:

I was wondering if anyone can advise me whether I can use a gas bbq to do a smoked pork roast for pulled pork?

I will put hickory chips in foil for smoke but wonder if the gas bbq will work. I dont have a smoker or charcoal bbq.

I want to do pulled pork sandwiches for a street party that we hold later in the summer.

Anyone???
