My "island". Creative, crazy or lazy? LOL

Hillsboro, OH(Zone 6a)

Don't know if you guys are watching the water garden forum, but I dug a new pond and filled my old one to make more room for the kids, ummm eventually. :) I had this area of plants left over, where the canal and veggie filter used to be. I have enough work to do finishing the pond and didn't want to worry about moving all these plants and I have to wait for the dirt in the old pond hole to sink anyway so I can level. So I decided to plant all my tropicals in here for now which also saves me time watering pots. For now everything on this side is still potted while I decide if I like it. LOL What do you think?

I think it is looking pretty good for a tropical jungle in Ohio! Are you going to move the rocks to the pond or leave them in this spot? Sometime you could probably add some smaller leaved things to help with the balance in this area. We need to have a fern co-op for you.

Your weeping willow has sure grown. It looks like it has doubled in size from this view. That will give the kids a great place to play under for many years to come. We used to have one as our playhouse when I was little. We only let Dad cut the doorway and then the under parts that were in our way. It was a lot of fun playing under there pretending we were in a jungle but you HAVE a jungle.

Me thinks you need a greenhouse before winter starts!

I have plans to add more, like the 5 flats still sitting on my deck. LOL I just decided to do this yesterday and it is not going to be permanent. By next year, this area will be all lawn for the girls.

Thanks :) I did take everything out of the pots yesterday except the 8' brug. LOL I am not digging that out again! I added some sun coleus too but that was all the time I had while working on the pond. I start back to work on Tuesday so who knows if or when or what will get done after that. :(

Looks great to me. Wish I had the energy to do something like that.

Moab, UT(Zone 6b)

Looks good enough to be called permanent in my yard. I've got a lot of space I wish looked that good. I'm stirred to start moving the plants that are in the way of the siding redo. Now _where do I put them.? and they're not litle eithr.

Look Lani, I dumped the plants from their pots and put in shorter plants. LOL I have been working on this off an on. This picture is from about a week ago. The ears are huge now!

Here it is from a distance. This picture is from the same time. I'll have to take a new one. I may repeat this garden next year in a different location.

I love the addition of the coleus in there. I makes it all "pop". Looking much better out of the pots too. I pity you having to dig all of those tropicals this fall though. Just really glad it isn't me having to do it. :)

Going back to work already? You seem to want to be able to buy more plants in the future with your earnings. lol
