Hi Everyone, For those of you who have had a UV Sterilizer, about how long did it take to clear up the water? I know we have had alot of rain, but I've done everything I know to do, including the UV Sterilizer, and have been a ponder for about 4 years and never had this problem, and my pond gets lots less sun here than where my last home was : 1st green algae, then brown, and now a brownish milky color.
I did atleast notice yesterday that the water was a little, and I mean maybe 2 inches deep you could see, but still very brownish. And less milky. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks,TraciS
How long does it take for a UV Sterilizer to do it's JOB!
I had Pea green soup. Took about 10 days for the UV to rid the pond of most of the green, could see a few inches deeper every day. Then the pond was brown for a couple of weeks, now it is crystal clear.
You will get there and YOU WILL LOVE IT !

The first time we put a UV sterilizer in our small pond it took about 3 days...had the brown stuff..but by changing the filters everyday we got rid of it..the brown stuff was the dead algae...perhaps that is what you are seeing
My bulb burned out this spring and it took till the water was bright green for me to figure it out. Took about a week to clear up again. If you have any kind of sponges in your filter, keep rinsing them. The sponges will trap the algae out of the water and clear it faster. If you don't have that kind of filter, try returning the pond water through some filter floss used for fish tanks. It will trap free floating debris. I love my UV-wouldn't keep a pond without one!
I have had my UV for about 7 months now, and my water never turns green. I also use the Bentonite Clay. Makes the water crystal clear.
Now that the weather has warmed up, my string algea has come under control as well....
