Hello from the Florida Panhandle

Niceville, FL(Zone 8b)

Hello Everyone,
I am a senior at the University of West Florida. I graduate in December with a degree in Middle School Science. I am currently taking a botany class that got me hooked on gardening. Other than an aloe, this summer is my first time growing anything. I have Coleus and Zebrina from cuttings. Miniature roses, Lemon, strawberries, and tomatos that I germinated from seeds. Besides than the tomatos, the others are still fairly small. I love germinating seeds, I don't know why but it really appeals to me. I germinated the lemon from one I bought at a store. I am going to try to use them for bonsai. Anyway, I am so excited to have found this site and I can't wait to chat on other boards.

Welcome to Daves and congrats on your upcoming graduation. Teaching is so very rewarding. I'm sure glad to hear that you have developed an interest in gardening. It will become an addiction and you will be looking for an acreage in no time. LOL! Enjoy your stay here at Daves Garden.

welcome quartzmoon, glad u found this site... i am like u this is my first season (well "real" season) having gardens.. several years back i had a small garden , then we moved and i hadnt had one since till this year.. i had some glads last year and a lilac.. but that was pretty much it.. oh yeah and some trees we planted on the property cuz we didnt have a single tree here... i started in the fall last year planting 300 spring bulbs and by jan. of this year i had planted 900... after the bulb planting obsession then i started on annu. and perin. , while it was too cold to work outside i did some seed germination also , and loved that , although it seemed to work better planting the seeds straight in the gardens.. i have also propogated lily bulbs off of their scales, that was alot of fun too.. now i am trying my hand in hybridnizing (sp?) daylilies.. ur gonna love Daves garden the people here are so helpful and nice.. i have gotten so many good ideas for gardens from other peoples pics... cant wait to see ya in the forums! watch out for any addiction that may come over u here.. it can be quite scary.. lol...

Enjoy your teaching career, maybe botany as a second, I've never tried citrus from seed, I'm fascinated, that must be very rewarding.
