I found an interesting Begonia

Rio de Janeiro, Brazil(Zone 11)

Walking in the montane forest north of here, I found some interesting little jewels, like (not blooming) orchids, and this Begonia, which was particularly common above a certain altitude.

This Begonia was quite leggy, had rubbery leaves that were green on the upper page and pink/purple lower page. The flowers were white, and had 5 petals (are those petals or bracts? I donīt know!). A nice plant, if I had the conditions to grow it, I would have considered cutting a branch and bringing it home.

That sure is a pretty Begonia! I guess it would really suffer in the humid flatlands?

As a terrestrial plant, I think it would. But it would probably suffer also from the heat on the sea level lands, since I found this plant only above a certain altitude (I had no altimeter with me, too bad, but probably above 600 meters).
