Hiya folks! I'm relatively new to the whole Dave's Garden experience but I love all the photos, information, and friendly people. I'm usually a Vines and Climbers kind of girl but I have to say that before I joined the garden here, I had never seen Brugs. I thought they were just beautiful and I come back to them time and time again to see the updates and to learn more.
Okay.....now that I've rambled........I recently was at the Ice cream/Garden Shop and found a beautiful plant with large buds ready to bloom. I pulled all my change together (literally, I paid about $8.00 in change and actually got it about $2.00 cheaper than it was marked because I think they got tired of counting nickels, lol). Well it turns out that it was a Datura inoxia and I'm so happy that last night I got to witness the first bloom opening! The fragrance is out of this world!! Anyhoo I just wanted to share that and request that anyone willing to give advice to this novice gardener, I'd appreciate the hints! Here's a pic!

Datura inoxia
All Right!! Be sure to smell it at dusk! This a great one to start with, won't be long and we will have you totally hooked!LOL!
Pretty dat and welcome to the forum. Hope to see you here a lot and maybe we will get you hooked on brugs soon. LOL!
AlyM, They are serious about getting you hooked!
6 Months ago I didn't even know what a Brug was.... Now I have Several cuttings growing larger by the day & about 30 seedlings ready for bigger pots. If you like that Dat, you''ll certianly get hooked on Brugs. (they will send you seeds to make sure! Hee Hee!)
I have become a Brugmaniac! Welcome!
Bj
Wonderful! Now here is the novice's question...will Brugs do well in my area?
Aly, I'm in 5a and have over 150 this year, so I'd say they would do fine for you. You will have to do some reading in back threads or ask questions so you know what to do to grow them.
SOME reading you say! HA I say! Holy Cow the reading I've been doing on growing from seed, the mature "Y", color, propegation, it's all so daunting! Don't know if I'm cut out for this.........although it sounds like quite a challange.......and I love a challange!
Piece of cake!
Have you noticed that the leaves of your inoxia droop during the middle of the day, even if there is moisture in the soil?
I have been having problems like that with what I am pretty sure is an inoxia. I'm wondering why it does this-- and when I add even more water to the point where I would consider it over watered, it perks back up.
Try just misting the leaves.
This is the first year mine didn't come back
but some datura seeds are growing in the floor of the GH
some of them may be it!
hey now there's a novel idea root. I'll try that next time :)
