I have Plectranthus, Louis Woodhill, Really cool plant, unusual, loves full sun. You'd think by looking at it that it's a sedum, but on closer examination, it's scented, must be a scented geranium, but wait, it's got salvia like blue flower spikes...it's a member of the swedish ivy family, and only gets about 6-8" tall. I have a few well rooted pieces needing good homes.
Have Plectranthus
Guess I'll have to pass on this nice plant, I hate to overwinter things.

Hi Girl glad to see you back. How far are you from Newnan. A buch of us are meeting up at Bonnies(tiG) on Sunday at 4 p.m. Daisy(flowerjunkie) and Nadine(modine) are coming here today from Texas then I'm joining them for the trip to Georgia on Sunday. Hope you can make it
I would like some SCG - check my TL. What kind of things do you like?
Hey, Spacecowgirl, Glad to see you back!
Do you have a picture of it? I have never heard of this one-not that that means a whole lot. I am sure I have another plec that I can swap you for it.
Is it the one they call Vick's plant? (smells like mentholatus) or the really fat one - Plectranthus socotranus in the DB?
Either way I want one. BTW we are contemplating a Foliage Secret Plant Swap in the very near future SPC so you may want to save it! (darn - why did I say that?)
Check the "Okay now that we have a Foliage Forum..." thread
Shhhhh Diva. We want this plant.
(whispering conspiratorially) Sorry!
SCG: what you have there is a VCG: "Very Common Plant", dull, boring, everybody has one, but we'll do you a favor and take it off your hands...
Is that better frogs?
Will download picture tonight. I love delphiniums, any any other plant that takes full 14 hour a day sunshine! For you ladies, I will go get another one of these, and divide it into nice portions. This is a fat leafed one, but it is not a vicks plant, smells a lot like sage or oregano. I do have 2 varieties, and one is called "Cuban Oregano", but this one is too small yet to trade, unless I get a second one of those today as well. It's only hardy to zone 8 outdoors for winter, but it roots really well, and is a vigorous grower! You could always break off a piece and root and keep indoors for the winter. I'd love to come up to newnan for the afternoon Sunday, i think I'm about an hour away from there, and it would be a blast! Glad to be back, it's been a rough summer, but hey, hubby bought my new mini tiller (the 4-cycle Honda), and he's done all the work with it so far, about 800 square feet of beds, and he keep hitting the "Take me home and love me" bin at a local nursery. He brought home the two new coreopsis last week, limerock red, and the new pink one. But back to the plectranthus....it's cool with rocks, and if I need another one for the foliage exchange, not that I have many plants yet mind you, remember I just started over again 1st of March.
would love some pleu... and delphinium dont have anything to trade but would love to pay postage thru paypal new to daves garden and i love it so icant get off the computer day and night oh well
Ooh! Ooh! I want some Cuban Oregano - grows like wildfire down here! Totally hardy too - you can just send me your whole plant and I'll grow it up for you and send it back when its ready! LOL! SCG if you need some stuff to put in that new bed I have a red salvia (S.darcyi) that will cover a whole corner - mine is 5 feet wide and 3 feet tall and still growing...trying to tame it by taking tons of cuttings. Late summer bloomer, hummer magnet.
It's a beaut diva, you wouldn';t by chance have any delphiniums would you? The cuban oregano I can share with you. They didnt have any more when I went to the nursery. I'll get you a piece rooted, it smells so good. I bought another Louis Woodhull just to get it for you guys. I also have another Plectranthrus that wallmart up here was selling under the name of "Mona Lavender" It is a plectranthrus, not lavender, and I can try to start it too. It's got really dark leaves, kind of bumpy and fuzzy at the same time. Never grown it before, but I'm a fiend for pinks and purples.
SCG I got one from WM too - is yours like the one below? Got this whole pot (no label) for $5!!! Got tons of cuttings rooting from it. If its like froggie's Mona then I would like some - don't have that one.
I don't have delphs right now b/c they are annuals down here - melt out in the summer heat. Have to be nuts like me to grow em. But I'm starting a bunch of Pac.Giants and Mag.Founts. for fall planting. Be glad to save you some if they grow. Never done them from seed before but been told they're not too hard. Best time to plant is in fall anyway. Doubt if they like being moved in summer.
I'll set aside some S. darcyi for you. Do you want a couple or a bunch? Don't be shy I have a flat of em. Just got to have the room!
I"d love anything, thanks! My Mona has really dark foliage...almost black it's so purple, but havne't seen flowers, but she's covered. Mine was in a markdown pile for $1.50 a gallon. I ended up with a bunch of plants that way. I always look at the markdown..Now that my internet is finally fixed, I'll be able to post the pictures of the 3 different varieties I have. Here. I'm still trying to find a fan for my greenhouse. The guy that had it took the fan, but left the louvers. We're perusing the net tonight to price one.
Oh yeah Delph, both of those varieties are easy from seed, did the pacific myself, and have two 4" babies outside now. Also did a "Unwin" hollycock? (spelling), and the darn thing already has 8" wide leaves on them. I only germinated them in March! They are doing better than the bare roots I got from Walmart.

I"m going to the post office on the 23rd....so if you want some let me know. I have 6 nice rooted cuttings about 6" long of the "lois Woodhull", I might have one of the "Cuban Oregano" ( I think Delph has 1st dibs on that one), and maybe if my mona is different, I can pull a few off her as well, since they have all doubled in size in a month. Drop me an email, and let me know...I'd love some new sunlovers for my yard!!!
That Mona is def. not what I have - much smaller leaves and more pointy and dense. I'll email you - I'm hitting the P.O. next Tues.
Froggie, did you email me your information so that I can get you some of the lois in the mail?
Yes maam. That would be me.
Janice
I have a piece about the size of the tip of my thumb coming out of that one, realy would like a few nice cuttings of that one for a basket, it smells so god. The lois woodhull smells really similar, but more pungent, sort of like the cuban oregano, which is another plectranthrus. I love larkspurs and dont' have any of those either. My gardens are only about 4 months old, started planting 1st of March.
Will do. As you can see, I have no shortage of them. That is only one planter. I put some out in the front yard reclamation project and they are doing really well. Between the plecs and the sage and the lavender, it is smelling pretty good out there now.
You garden is loooking great! don't you love the guara? I really like wild cottage gardens and it is a favorite of mine. All my annuals are toast this time of year. They are hanging around as birdfood.
Don't forget the Foliage Secret Plant trade! (trolling for names) ;)
SCG, if you have any extra cuttings of the Lois Woodhull I would very much like to have one. By the way, I still have the black spearmint you requested last winter. Send me your address please so I can get it out to you.
I have some for you too leaflady! Drop me your address in email, and I'll send mine back to you. THanks for saving the black spearmint for me. I love the guaras and the one in the pic is the McKenna's Gold, it has vareigated foliage with white flowers that turn to pink as they age, the big old bumblebees are such a trip to watch on them. Can't wait to get the salvia Delphinium, but don't know about the foliage secret trade, just don't have enough interesting foliage plants right now, and the only really neato philos I have are too small yet to trade out. Give them 4 months in my greenhouse, and they'll be really happy.
