This is the north end of the front tropical beds....lots of variety..I think I have about 150 kinds of plants in the bed this year.
My tropical beds for 2004
Never!! What a wonderful feast for the eyes! :)
(((BLUSHING))) :-)
Beautiful !! * Thumbs-up *
Will the brug seedlings grow enough to bloom in these crowded conditions . Not knocking it , you have beautiful flower beds.
What is that structural plant next to the red canna in the first picture ?
:~D
;)...with your zone I'd take a bow Maestro!!
How beautiful!
amazing...and all done in 5b!
Without a doubt, when it comes to us Midwesterners amazing the southern folks with our Tropicals.
Kyle Rules!!!
Dang Kyle I need more coffee, gotta get my eyes focused!
Every year I say I gotta try Cordoon, and don't remember till you show one,LOL!
Fantastic job!
Great pictures Kyle. It all flows together so well. As for the cardoon, what I have growing this year isn't nearly as pretty as the kind I had last year. My seeds last year came from a gardener and this year, I don't remember where I ordered them from, but I don't want to get the same thing again.
Are we going to get to see the back yard this year?
Your beds are beautiful once again Kyle. I agree "2 THUMBS UP"!
That's a work of a genius! 5 thumbs up!
Hey Shirley ... Road trip ? ? ?
hahahaha
Great looking garden
Kyle,I am in norwalk
about everyday & he
has something new
blooming all the
time.His backyard
is big & if he put
flowers all over he
would never get to
work!!.

LOL....I've been off for a week now...I need to go back to regular work to get some rest!!LOL Pics soon of the planters downtown.
Halaman welcome to Daves, I lived in San Diego years back.I really miss it.Want to move back west.
Thanks Kyle, we love San Diego and have been living here for the last 29 years minus 6.5 years we were stationed in Yokosuka, Japan.
I would like to copy your tropical bed with your permission of course. What is that plant with big leaves next to the banana plant on the second pics? Is that an Angels trumpet?
Kyle, your beds are beautiful.
Those tropical beds would be impressive in Miami....but in Iowa they are awesome! How late in the year do they last? Do you save them over the winter? I am just amazed at the amount of work you must do.
Pati
Your so talented Kyle! The beds look great.
Halaman, the plant next to the banana is a brug seedling.
Pati, they stay outdoors till mid Oct then dug up and stored in the basement dormant over winter.
Thanks everyone..more pics later on when everything is blooming. :-)
Its beautiful Kyle,I wonder if my tropicals will ever get in the ground this year....since summer is almost over when I finally get it set up I'll probably stick them in the ground in their pots
Can't beat your gardens though....and then there's Roots gardens......
LOL, I wish I could hold a candle to Kyle CC! I am going to get hooked on Coleus and,I swear I am putting up a post it,to remind me to grow Cardoon next year!
Some day I hope to get to go through your place Kyle, every year it just amazes me!
I'm going to start making plans for my gardens for next year. I was wondering if you and Doc could come up and arrange them for me about the first week of May? LOL! Just once I'd love to have something that looks as nice. Boy, I wish I had received those great coleus before I planted the wave petunias. I would have had one heck of a border. Think I could move them now without killing them?
geez Kyle... you are putting us Floridians to shame!!! Beautiful beds!
Hey Kyle!! That sounds like a plan, you know how she cooks,I'll till ,you plant, and we will let Shirley sit back and give orders!!
Hey, I'm lovin' this more and more each time I visit!! I won't even give orders....you can just have at it.
We still have about two full months before we need to start bringing anything in for winter.Summers go by sooooo fast! :-)
Your garden beds are absolutely goregous, vibrant, and glowing in tropical colors!! Way to go!!!
I'm hoping for 2-1/2 months. LOL! Every couple of weeks counts in Iowa. I hate to think about all the fall work.
Beautiful yard, Kyle. My cardoon isn't doing well this year. Yours is beautiful.
We have had a cooler then usual summer this year. The cardoon was slow to get going.
Eclipse - truly gorgeous; saved all your pics - hope you don't mind! Going to use em to plan next year! Gonna order some Cardoon from Parks too! What kind of dark red leaf canna is that with the pink flower?
This is the work of an artist who knows and loves his plants.
An inspiration to us all. Please keep posting, we will never be bored :)
Kyle, the canna is beautiful! I really need some of those!
Quick question.....when looking at Horn Canna Farm, the foliage doesn't appear anywhere near as dark as yours. Is this the same canna?
Well duh.....I swear this has been one of my 'really blonde days'!!! I realize now that the canna I am looking at at Horn is Black Knight! Your Black Dragon is a beauty! (I will soon learn to comprehend what I read...LOL)

So, do we start the bidding on Black Dragon????? Any extra rhizomes just laying around, waiting for homes....? (remember I asked first!)
Also, what is the OTHER canna with the dark leaves and the smaller red flowers?
Please post more pics! More pics! More pics!
I have looked at these pictures 10 times by now and I am still finding new plants in them. Amazing...just amazing...
