lenaky - I have a Mr. Lincoln but thought it was a grafted rose? How does that work? Don't know much 'bout birthin' no roses...

Have multicolored Rio Samba and Gemini from J&P. But same prob as above...pretty sure these are grafted hybrid teas.

I will also tag onto your post and say I am slobbering for an Endless Summer H.!

Sorry to say, I (whispering) threw away (sob) a corkscrew willow just a few months ago, before I joined DG. Bad girl, slap on wrist!

Forgot lenaky...also have Margo Koster, Pat Austin and Lady of Guadalupe. Here's Pat...

Tell me what to do!

Lenaky---I can try and root you a corkscrew willow cutting. They are usually pretty easy to root. Just let me know if you still want one and I will stick some cuttings in water.

Paint Lick, KY(Zone 6a)

Those are beautiful roses!! I sent you an email about them I'm trying to figure out if they can be rooted from cuttings!!
thanks

I've been searching I wonder if air layering would work?

I'm willing to try. Don't know much about old roses, but aren't they usually not grafted? I would love to reproduce my Pat Austin - pics just can't capture the color! Also the Margo Koster, I know its a polyantha, but I'm not sure what that means.

I bet I can find a thread about rooting roses in a fish tank hydropononic style if anyone is interested. Am I allowed to post it?

Birmingham, AL(Zone 8a)

CaptMicha!
I have tons of old fish tanks! post away! Actually I've been wondering if they were any good for rooting cuttings, but I was thinking stuff would rot. Outside is in the upper 90's, and inside, thanks to dh, its in the low 60's - so no happy medium. Maybe I could put them in the potting shed with lights? Still pretty hot though.

Why do I have old fish tanks, you ask? Because my cherished pet snakes were REALLY GOOD at getting away....sob!

Lenaky,
I am not into these but I did happen to see the endless summer at Lowe's in our area.....at just one, not the other, so check out the Lowe's in your area.....they were quite beautiful.

I have jap snowball,,,, will be cutting back soon,,,,let me know if you would like some.

Brookeville, MD(Zone 7a)

Okay, I'm alittle afraid of posting the thread so I'll just say what I read.

Cut holes in styrafoam, stick the cuttings through so it's it'll float ontop of the water. This is just to hold up the cuttings, not to root in so make it thin and don't have the styrafoam around the nodes.
Put a little water in the bottom so about 2-3 nodes sit in the water. Put in your water airator and put on the lid with the light on- I don't know how long it should stay on...

Um, that's it!

Ellicott City, MD(Zone 7a)

Please send me an e-mail....I've got Hydrangea, "Endless Summer".

Birmingham, AL(Zone 8a)

CaptMicha - I think that's cool. Course the fact that I like it should probably worry you...Anyway my dh is going to freak when he sees me taking out the aquariums. He's terrified of me getting more snakes. (bc of the $$) When he sees me floating little rafts of styrofoam with plants sticking in them he'll prob. think "well, she's still crazy but at least it aint snakes!" Think I'll tell him they're snakes with leaves...he'll be calling up the therapist for sure...my next post will be from a padded cell. Lenaky if they ever let me out I may have cuttings for you. Wish me luck.

Shirley am I allowed to email you too? (whimper?)

Ellicott City, MD(Zone 7a)
