Help! My 2 year old male has developed encephalitis from something else (vet does not know). He is on Doxycycline 50 mg every 12 hours. Seems to be getting better...able to eat and drink a little now. However, he is now strong enough to put up a *heck* of a fight when we try to give him his pill. I tried putting it in a piece of velveeta cheese, but he spit it out. Do any of you have suggestions for getting him to take a pill?? I am desperate, my husband got so mad this morning I thought he was going to have a stroke. He has to take 2 a day for the rest of July and some of August and has scratched us both up already. We are trying the coatsleeve trick but he is quite powerful now. Any suggestions will be appreciated! I will be calling my vet today, too.
