lol I dont know what else to call it. Its an aprox. 30-35 gallon rubbermaid tub. I just couldnt let it sit around empty. I have a sick SICK feeling this is just the start. :o)
Frogbit, duckweed, a betta, and 2 (one pictured) pink kissing gouramis. And a couple snails that traveled along with the floaters.

My water thingy
Oooh, you've got the bug! Do you have an indoor tank in which you can overwinter your fish?
Yes we do.. DH loves the indoor tanks. I have to admit I do too. I think 99% of the fish are ones I picked out :o) I was thinking about getting some Mollies for the outside tub, but we started with Mollies.. and had more, and more, and still more Mollies! :o) I would love for somthing to breed in there tho. Maybe I got lucky with the gouranis, and one is male, and one female. Altho, they are big ol things! One is about 7 inches long, and the other about 9. I sware while fishing, I have caught smaller bluegill than those things!
We have a 55gal tank we need to restock. It's been sitting empty (save for the water and gravel) since we moved our goldfish outdoors in early spring. I just can't decide what to put in there. I like cichlids, especially the colorful African cichlids, but don't want to have just a species tank.
Yep, Shelly, it's just the start. ;) I started out with an antique Coke box (the coolers that have the little box on the side for bottle caps), then got a whiskey barrel tub, then stole one of the horses' 285 gallon watering troughs this spring. I started whining about not having enough room for all the plants I was getting in trade, so Kenny brought home another galvanized watering trough ~ 2' or so tall and 8' in diameter.
Of course I'm outgrowing that, too. ;) So he drug home an old 5000 gallon water tank that a friend gave him. He'll be cutting it in half for TWO MORE ponds for me! *Happy Dance!* That should do me for a few more months, 'til I get the 9000 gallon in-ground one planned and start in on him about digging the hole. *Giggle ~ snort ~ guffaw!*
Cute little tank you have there! I like the betta in it. Frogbit ~ is that another name for Floating Hearts? Or is that a totally different plant?
lol Wingnut! I thought about a trough also.. It may look a bit odd in the burbs here tho.
I dont know about the frogbit, and floating hearts. I think they are 2 different things. I looked it up in the PDB, and I didnt see floating hearts with the frogbit.
Kim, we thought about the chichlids also, but we decided on a more community tank. We have 3 balas, a clown loach, 2 green kissing gouramis, 2 yoyo loaches, 2 kuhli (?) loaches 2 eels, 2 skunk loaches, a yellow finned botia, a red finned botia, a rainbow finned shark, a 14 inch pleco, 3 pink cory cats, a bumble bee gobi, and I think thats it. We love all the different ones. Their behaviors are neat to observe.
Ooh, now I'm on a Google Images search to see what all of these look like. We've had a Columbian shark (Arius seemani - I had to look it up!), gouramis, sailfin mollies, swords, angelfish, neon tetras and a few others. We love fancy goldfish, but think we're done with them indoors - too prone to disease and so much more of a bummer to lose one of them!
Just found this fella's site; I bet you'll enjoy it. http://www.riebesell.net/aquaria/
Very neat site! Thanks Kim! Gosh I think we need some more fish! I saw a few I liked! :o)
Have you ever bought them through the mail? I've seen such varieties at places online that I don't see locally (especially within a radius I can justify gasoline-wise).
I have bought from http://www.aquariumfish.net/index.html The shipping is high, but there were some I just couldnt find anywhere even right in Denver. The fish came in great shape.
www.aquabid.com
Like ebay but with fish/supplies only. :)
How big is your tank Shelly?
The gouramis should breed rather easily. Especially in a pond enviroment! :-) Beauiful set up you have!
The tank all the fish are in is a 50 gallon. Oh no!!! Crim!!!!!! Off I go to check!
Thanks for saying its beautiful.. lol its really not that beautiful (looking) but the sound is wonderful, and the fish seem happy!
