Love these plants, it takes a long summer for us to get blooms as it just doesn't get hot for long enough here.

I love these flowers too, but have never had any luck with them.
My wildflower garden is on a slope with full sun, may be it is too hot
and dry for this plant under those conditions. I do water the slope
regularly so I can't figure out what the problem might be.
I do realize that nature is mysterious sometimes but may be one of
you will help me figure it out.
I do have a lot of other lovely natives to console me.
Sincerely, Josephine Keeney.

Frostweed, is your slope facing west? I'm wondering if it's getting too hot, too. The only places in nature that I've seen these growing well were in areas that didn't get all day sun and no sun in the afternoon (or dappled at best). Hope that helps you some. :)

Thank you for your reply Wingnut, my slope faces south and yes
it does get extremely hot, so that could be the problem.
I wll try again next year in a shadier spot thar can hold water.
Will try to report on the results.
Josephine.

I had one of these show up as a "volunteer" in my very urban front yard which has a western exposure. We had a wet spring, and at some point the main stem flopped over, but the side stems have bloomed continuously since late April. A truly spectacular plant! Picture to be posted soon.

Can you tell me when the Bluebells in the photo are in bloom at the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center ?
Thanks,
Jeff Beck
