Update of my large lasagna bed

Miami, FL(Zone 10b)

Some of you will probably remember me posting last fall this lasagna bed I was laying out. It is about 225 feet long and averages 8 to 10 feet wide. Some of you will recall that I made an error when I made the bed because I had piled soil up next to my mature oak trees. After posting photos last fall, some DG members warned me that I would smother my trees by doing that. It broke my heart but I had to go back and rake nearly all the soil back away from the base of those trees. Then this spring I piled up wood mulch thickly to those trees so that I would not lose any height and make the bed look consistent. I sunk plants in pots near the trees.

Anyway, here is a 4-way photo comparison of my bed showing how it looked last October and how it looked as of yesterday. I posted these photos in a series on the Garden Talk forum in a thread about before and after but thought I should really get these in this forum.

It is still a very young garden but I can just see how it will look in a couple of more years. I LOVE GARDENING!!! It has become an absolute addiction for me.

Cheers,

Kelly
