How do you treat your Brugs for Mealy Bugs?

Brown City, MI(Zone 5a)

I've got a Mealy Bug problem on one of my Brugs. I just put some Bayers Rose and Flower granules on the top of the soil, worked it in and watered. Then I looked at the packaging and it doesn't list Mealy Bugs .... maybe they have another name that I'm unaware of.

Previous to this, Several times, I've washed the leaves with water and a bit of mild soap. I guess the problem is too big for that treatment, they are back worse than ever.

Thanks for any help.

If you are talking about the little critter that don't move, you can use a Q-tip and rubbing alcohol and touch them. They will die. If you have a lot of them, maybe the 50-50 water/alcohol in a spray would work.

If they're bad, water with Imidacloprid. It works amazingly well. Rosemania has it under the name of Merit.

They are bad. It would take me forever with a Qtip. ;-)

Some kind of spray is the only thing that's going to do it I fear.

Check that thread I started a while back that has the home recipes for things like this. You might find something in there that would work.

I'll do that Shirley.

I use to check it regularly, but it got so long with "talk" that it got away from it's original idea. I'm not complaining .... I like the talk too and I have been guilty of changing the subject a few times.

It would be nice if the actual recipes were put in the "F.A.Q." section. Maybe this has been done, and I'm just not aware of it.

Tree_Climber, a systemic insecticide like Imidacloprid will take care of them. You dont need to spray, just water it in. brugcrazy has already mentioned the name.

Thanks .............. I much prefer systemic, I'll look for that product.
