Oh, that is pretty. I love oleanders but they don't do well for me. They tend to die and not come back. I will baby them for a few years and bam a particularly cold winter will get them. I did buy a little dwarf pink oleander a few weeks ago, but just because it was on a clearance display at Walmart. It had a whole branck broken off and I got it for a dollar so if I lose it I won't feel so bad. Do you grow yours in a pon and take in for the winter? Jenny

Jenny, I have several in pots and more in the ground for summer. But all have to come in for winter...usually mid Oct here. Some years later, it depends on the season. :-) The cuttings root in water for me.I have other colors too thanks to some nice people at Daves!!

Guess if I want them I would have to put in pots, but they get so very big and I have too many things to bring in now. Maybe I will bring this dwarf one in this winter. Thanks, Jenny

I didn't relize these rooted in water. There are Oleander all over here. The doubles are just gorgeous but they do not drop their dead bloom so I always hate the brown look.

Do you put them in your greenhouse Kyle or do you let them go dormant?

Norwalk, IA(Zone 5b)

kell I keep them either in the basement or down at work in a cool greenhouse for winter.

Kyle, do you know what causes the white streaks in the flowers? The variegated one that I sent you is about the same color of pink as the one that you posted. Sometimes it has lots of white streaks, sometimes only a few. It looks pretty and smells wonderful either way!

Norwalk, IA(Zone 5b)

Ronna..I'm not sure what causes the streaks....another of the universes great unknown mysteries!!LOLBTW the var. oleanders are potted and growing thanks!! :-)

Glad to hear it, though I'm not surprised with your green thumb! It's a lot easier to cut things back in the fall when you're trying to fit them all inside, but the only way that I can root oleander & bougainvillea is taking cuttings in the summer, when they are actively growing.

I have never seen a variegated oleander. Any pics?

Norwalk, IA(Zone 5b)

Kell I'll try to take a few today..Logees sells the varigated one.Dbl pink flowers with a bright yellow edge on the leaf.

Don't forget Kyle!
