I had a peice of red passion flower, I don't remember the name, sorry, and I had nursed it all winter long inside the house. I took it out this spring, got caught by some cold weather and the poor thing lost all it's leaves. Well this last month it started to come back really well, it was putting out a vine and had grown back 4 or 5 leaves, I was so excited!!! But then this morning I went out to water and and there was nothing in the pot!!! Not one peice of leaf, no vine and no ROOTS!!! I picked up the pot to check it out more and under the pot on the ground were about 5 or 6 slugs! Do they eat passiflora? I mean eat everything, roots included? I'm so upset now, this was my very first attempt at passi's and I was so proud that I had gotten it to live over the winter and grow in the spring. :O( WAH!
I'm so upset!!! Passiflora question....
Hi Raven, I'm so sorry about your Passiflora. No, slugs wouldn't be do that much damage overnight -- maybe over a period of a week or so, but slugs usually aren't the culprits when it comes to Passifloras. The only things that can devour large portions of vine are grasshoppers and catepillars, but catepillars usually just eat the leaves, not the vines and certainly not the roots. It could also be a larger culprit that pulled it up and ate it. Logee's has lots of Passifloras at very reasonable prices if you are looking to replace it. Logee's: http://www.logees.com/store/
Raven- I would be more than happy to send you a Passiflora cutting for a SASE. It is the common one that's purple and white. Not what you had- but it's still pretty.
Thanks much Claire_CA, I've been drooling over Logees and Kartuz passifloras for a while, they have so many I would like!!!
crimsontsavo, what an interesting name, can you tell me what it means? I never got to see a flower on my vine so I don't know if it was pretty or not, I was just excited that I had a passi!!! :O) Thank you so much for offering me a cutting of yours, I'll contact you after I get all moved, we are taking down the computer on Wed. afternoon and I probably won't get hooked back up until the end of next week, so I'll email you after that. I might have something you would like to trade for too, I'll send you a list of stuff I have. :O)
crimson tSavo .
tSavo (thinks they renamed it though) is a place in Africa, the place where those lions went mad and killed so many people.
crimson is um- it's the combination of a bleeding heart, firey sunset and a few other morbid things, lol.
Trade isnt neccisarry but might be nice. I love anything that blooms deep red/orange or deep purple. Seeds are fine too.
If ya dont have anything like that it's fine, a SASE will work fine. hehe.
I was curious if that was what your name was about, "The Ghost in the Darkness" was my favorite movie for a very long time! Ok, back to packing for me!
