Hi, everyone! I just moved into my first house with a garden. It was totally vine and brush covered. I uncovered some gorgeous daylilies, which have seen the light of day for the first time in years and are blooming their little hearts out. I love them!! I thought they were all orange, side of the road, things, I have a different bloom on each one!
How do I find out how to care for them, propagate them? Is it somewhere on this site?

Razzie--- Congrats on your new home and wonderful gardens----consider yourself lucky because that is a real rarity. (I am jealous!!! just joking!!!) Daylillies are one of the easiest plant to care for!!! They just about raise themselves! They love the sun and a drink of water during the dry hot summer--- They are easy to propagate. Just dig a clump and spray the dirt off the roots so you can see the roots easily and then using a knife--shovel--ax--hand saw--(something sharp) and slice threw the mass of roots so that the each clump of roots have fans (leaves) attached. Then simply replant in another location or ask me for my address and I will replant in another location----HAHAHAHAH! Beware daylilys are addicting and you may reach the point one day where you would consider selling your house, car or anything else to buy some more.... But the best way of gaining more is TRADING HERE ON DAVES GARDEN!!!!! Marie

Hi humblebumble and everyone. I'm the Tomato Lady (Las Vegas) and I have just gotten bit by the daylily bug. I purchased 25 different varieties on ebay and the web and have already received some. They're still arriving.
I would be more than happy to pay shipping charges on anything you want to send me. I and a group of garden club members would pot them up for a fundraising sale, in fact I bought lots of extras so we could raise some money for their projects. We have a sale in the Fall and a BIG sale in the spring where we support an "At-Risk Elementary School."

I have spent the better part of this past week on the web looking at daylilies . . . . soooo many kinds, soooo beautiful. I've given up trying to make the color and variety decisions, I am confused and I am bleary-eyed. I really will take any extras you have, and we will take wonderful care of them.

I"d love a bird of paradise. Hubby brought me home a new greenhouse last week, and I'd love to have one to put in there. I have some plectranthrus, Louis Woodhull, cool in rock garden, smells a bit like sage, and has blue salvia like flowers. Its hardy to zone 9, but it roots easily and can be put other places. The leaves are thick like a sedum too.
