Baker City, OR(Zone 5b)

Hello farmers. Yesterday afternoon we had a thunder storm and the clouds made an interesting sunset. I thought you'd like to see since verybody loves a sunset!

It's ice cream break time now, it's hot down there in the vegie garden! I hoed the corn that is up and looked for some little plants of other kinds that should be comming up, not many are so I might just replant. This is not starting out to be a good gardening year but sure is a learning experience! There are plenty of weeds, they are looking great and need an incounter with the hoe. Some of the spuds have been hoed, the rest still need it. A lot of hands and knees weeding between plants needs to be done soon, I'll work on some of that today.

A couple of days ago we moved the neighbors cattle about 5 miles up the road to a summer pasture. Some of the calves are still pretty small but they all made the trip ok. The blind cow and her calf were left behind where it is easier for her to find her way around without too many hazards. The last time we moved her she missed going through the gate with the herd, went down the wrong side of the fence, ran into the fence several times, into a ditch and almost ran into the four wheeler that she didn't see until she was about 2 steps from it. She was out on the road and didn't have any cows to follow, got sort of panicy being alone. Her calf had gone into the new pasture with the herd and she knew she was alone, it sure was hard to get her going the right way.

Got to change some irrigation water and then it's back to the weeds. Have a great day everyone, count your blessings.
