I JUST CAN'T WIN....Butterfly Bush Trades in jeopardy

Seattle, WA(Zone 8b)

I am a cursed man it appears....at least where it comes to trades.

My dear sweet 'helpful' partner decided to once again help me by cleaning the patio area.....which is where all the baby Butterfly bushes are. I had each color (white, yellow, pink, and blk knight) all in their own trays. Now they are all in one big tray and I have no idea what color is what.....other than the blk knight which is variegated.
Ladies expecting trades from me can join in my crap shoot and take a baby as planned, I just can no longer guarantee the color.
I can still send the couple Blk Knight that I have rooted.

If you wish to bail I will completely understand and will as quickly as possible return you postage monies and or stamps.

Prattville, AL(Zone 8a)

Marc, I'm still game..Send the Black Knight & just reach in a grab one of the others & we'll see what happens with it later... :-)

Yep...same here....just send me a couple of whatever you have. Thanks

Woodville, TX(Zone 8a)

Same for me Marc. I like them all. Maybe I'll get a white so I'll be happy about anyway. I just like butterfly bushes and have space for more. Jenny

You ladies are awesome! I however am going to tell the other half that you're all really angry and he is NEVER to touch my plants again. hehehehehehe

Might be 'Harlequin'...but BK has silvery-green leaves...

Jackson, SC(Zone 8a)

if you after everyones goes out still have a varigated bk and one more left that needs a home let me know. i just lost one of mine i had for three years and would like to start over. thanks Marie

ps do all you owe first. dont want to barge in on this unless you have any left that need homes.

Seattle, WA(Zone 8b)

Well the tag (and we know how accurate they can be) said Blk Knight, and the bloom color is correct per all the pictures I have seen....but Harlequin it could be....although the bloom color is darker than what I am finding for Harlequin.
Oh well It's purdy..... dark purple bloom, leaves are variegated and the hummers and butterflies LOVE it, what more can one ask. :-)

"down the Shore", NJ(Zone 7a)

Right, rikerbear, 'Harlequin' has more of a red flower... It sounds like a gorgeous Buddleia, but you might have something new there!

Woodville, TX(Zone 8a)

Oh, heck I should have asked for both a black knight and a pink. I've never seen one like you are describing Marc. I'm kind of thinking like Pard... Jenny

Marc, I'm still interested in the trade. Just send whatever!! How are the bulbs I sent? Did they perform this season?

If you have an extra I would adore a blk knight. I love the varigated.

So far Moretz yours is the only variegated one nearly ready to leave home. Several of the others are looking wilty and sad with the heat we've been having. I should be sending yours out later this week.

Northwest, MO(Zone 5a)

Thanks...Riker...I received mine in good order. :)

Seattle, WA(Zone 8b)

Moretz.....your start went out yesterday afternoon,,,,you should have it Friday. The leaves are less variegated than the adult plant, but I'm sure it will bounce back....may be from being propagated in a shady enviroment (???)
Anyway it is on its way......

Marc

P.S. The others will go out when they have a better root system......I promise :-)

hickory, NC(Zone 7a)

rikerbear
thanks i cant wait to get it i owe you
moretz

Seattle, WA(Zone 8b)

You owe me nothing Melissa...you've waited the longest of anyone for this. I'm just sorry it took so long to get them to root.
Just enjoy it in your garden....that's all I ask in return :-)

hickory, NC(Zone 7a)

rikerbear
wanted to let you know i got my plant today it is great shape. thank you so much. i still think i owe you LOL i will let you know how it grows for me.i think i will keep it in the house this winter to make sure it gets a good start before i put it outside which might be next spring.do you think that would be a good idea or do you think it would make it? i dont want to loose it lol plmk what you think and thanks again so much for the BB
moretz

Seattle, WA(Zone 8b)

Hmmmm.....not sure I could answer you as I am not real sure what your winter clim is really like. I know what 7a is suppose to be according to the 'charts', but that doesn't always mean much. But my personal opinion is...........
I would if I were plant it out and let it get established some before winter. Mulch it good and light a candle. :-)
I have tried to keep a couple in the house and they just are never happy....than they die....the end.
I have several new cuttings clipped and planted (pray for roots)....so if worse comes to worse I should have another one for you next Spring.
All the others from this year, still rooting are spoken for.
I haven't forgotten ladies and gentlemen, I just don;t want them to die when sent.

Hey Marc, Thanks for the update :-) My Yellow BB's are growing very SLOWWWWW.....starting to see some new growth now, maybe it's the heat slowing them down..

I've always heard good things come to those who wait..lol

Hug's,Carol

Seattle, WA(Zone 8b)

I beleive that is why these cuttings are so slow to grow.... it has been unseasonably hot here (90's f) Our norm would be closer to 78 this time of year.
Suppose to break 100 today.....I'M MELTING!
My plumeria and other tropicals however are just loving this heat.

hickory, NC(Zone 7a)

rikerbear,
ok will plant outside and keep my fingers crossed that it makes it.last winter we got twice 9" of snow and some 4" we got more snow last year then in years pasts.but the snow seems to help the plants more then it hurts them.i heard that it insulates them lol go figure. well i thank you again for the bb and cant wait to see it grow i will send u pics next year and lyk how it has done for me thanks again
