I think they are absolutely beautiful, but haven't seen them in the garden centers. Are they a 'grow from seed' flower and are they 'viney'? I love the pale pink ones!!
Thanks!!
Where can I get some Brugs?
You can grow them from seed, but they don't come true, so there's no telling what color you will get. If you start with a cutting, you will know exactly what color you're getting. Cuttings root easily, but aren't easy to come by this time of year. Most of us have been waiting for the plants to bloom, and if they're cut back now, we have to wait even longer! Lots of people will have cuttings available in the fall, if you can wait that long. If you can't wait, there are always plants and cuttings on ebay.
They aren't viney at all, they're somewhere between a shrub and a tree, depending on the variety and how mature the plant is.
Gardengirl I just became interested in brugs. Someone gave me one last year and I babied it but really didn't know how to care for it. I purchased another from someone. Over the winter the one I purchased did not live, but the other came back. I have been reading the threads here and really soaking up all the knowledge. This year I have done much better with my brugs and some are showing buds and I'm so excited. Also I traded for two cuttings which are coming along. It is funny that I never noticed brugs anywhere before but now I see them everywhere. At many of the nurseries you might ask for Angel Trumpets cause many people call them by that name. Just keep your eyes open. This fall hopefully I can beg cuttings off members of the forum for postage and I'm sure you can too. From what I understand those people in the colder climates cannot leave them out and take cuttings to save and bring out in the spring. With the big plants they can take a few cuttings. Maybe we can both enlarge our collection. I have 6 now! THey are like an addiction, we just want more. I have been drooling over Kell's gorgeous red one. Have you seen that in the (thought I died and went to Heaven) thread? Oh, so pretty. You know that girl is happy to have grown that. Good luck in your quest. Jenny
Delecie sent me 6 Charles Grimaldi cuttings from Florida as she had a flush of blooming finish up. So far ALL of them are rooting. If you are a good girl, I might send you one after I am sure it is OK and leafing out nicely....
E-mail me......
Gardengirl, you have mail.
