Calceolaria 'Walter Shrimpton' (Calceolaria darwinii x fothergillia)

Tokyo, Japan

Quite nice!

That would go on my "Plants With Character" bench.

;)

Definitely a character, they aren't the easiest Calceolaria to keep happy! The whiteflies love them too

Tokyo, Japan

Give them Galaxy Choco - that keeps even the most contrarious of characters purring...

;)

I hadn't noticed that effect

sorry I meant on plants

*G*

Is this one easy to start from seeds, do you know? Thanks in advance from a newbie to Calceolaria species.

Joseph

Walter Shrimpton is a hybrid but both parents C. uniflora and fothergillii are similar in appearence to this hybrid, particularly C. uniflora. I understand these species are from the Falklands/Patagonia and are usually sown in spring at about 20C and take 1-4 months on average to germinate.

I had ordered seeds of C. uniflora today, and I saw the similarity in the flower you posted and that which I found on the web. Thank you for this information, I will be better prepared and hope to have success with them.
