They are doing good Monterey......I love mine and I am sure you will feel the same about yours. They will be in bloom most of the time until the weather gets alot cooler and then they may slow down a bit.... :o)

Monterey, you asked about pollinating once. See how the bee gets pollen on his back? When he goes to another Passiflora, he could transfer some of that pollen and pollinate it!

You mean that she wasn't becoming a blond for me. I tried rubbing several flowers together. Blue Horizon to Lavender Lady. What do you think? Little fruitties? Gardenwife had a link to a video showing a bee, but not a Carpenter bee, pollenating flowers the same way. The big ones are female Pudgy says, I guess the girls like me.

I think she is wearing a halo. LOL And I didn't tell you the females were bigger then males, I told you the females are the only ones that can sting you! hehehe
Don't make fun of my big chubby she bee! She has a glandular problem, I think... ;~)

Hey! That isn't a boy bee is it? So how do you tell with these gender benders? Ask if it's in the fabulous flying five?He could meet my other friend! Draggie!

LOL, gender benders. Good one.
The females are black and the males are tan & have no stinger. If I recall correctly, I posted a link to your other Bee thread. Gonna look it up.
Yep, here it is. Has good pic for ID'ing. (ours are the one in the top picture & our species is #3, Valley Carpenter Bee). And since your previous bee thread, I have started getting some smaller ones on my salvia pot. It cracks me up how they each choose to store their pollen. I have 1 that only puts it on her 2 front legs, another that only puts it on the back of her neck, and the big gal that I have every year and is easy an inch long & bigger around then my pinky, she never has pollen on her at all. She must eat it right then & does not need to carry it back to the nest. Gluttonous girl! LOL No wonder she has a weight problem. ;~)

I have only seen a male once & it was years ago. Guess they are shy. And speaking of passies, I was at my moms yesterday & asked her where my passies were planted so I could see if they were blooming, and turns out dad killed them all with the weedeater! SHAMEFUL!
So for his birthday I am gonna buy him stronger glasses & a plant ID chart. LOLOLOL

That's so sad.

Rich, I think the transfer of pollen has to be made to the ovaries of another Passiflora. I think most multi-hybrids are sterile.
