Gapeahen did I send you some of that unID'd red that I have? Looks like guaranitica but red? Also have Van Houtii and Karwinskis sage, both hummer magnets. Our hummers go for 4 o'clocks but I'm assuming you have those!
Elizabeth please save some Karwinskis for me. I don't have that one. If I can ever learn to root the salvia's I have collected 50 kinds this year and many are big enough to take a few cuttings from now. Or I can send you some cuttings if you want to try to root them. Let me know as I have some packages to ship tomorrow and still have your addy.
I am not a salvia person, but I saw at a nursery downt he road had one that was blue and black. and it had more hummers around well there was nothing around the red. what if birds are color blind? and we just think they are going to the red flowers but there just going to them cause the smell is stronger?

Well u gal's I didn't really know what I want until my little hummer's started coming around! Then I realize I didn't have
enough! I'm digging up a large bed of purple majesty now!
Making room for any new hummer plants!
Michelle, I'll know mon by 12pm mailman run then! I didn't realize what I need at the time! I still have the coneflower for u! You need to post how your start your cuttings!
DonnaB has 50 in her collections!!!! WOW!!
Elva, that would be wonderful! Thank you! I can NEVER had enough!
Liz, yes I got unID red! You can send the other also, I've got a very big yard in full sun. I'd like to get a few rooted for the fall! I wish someone would start a secret trade with salvia!
DonnaB, wow I want one of everything you have! lol!!
Taking cutting isn't hard all. We can try cutting again!
Wrap the hold plant in wet towels, the foilage must not dry out! I have a few the may make it, but they do look sad!
I don't believe they see the same as us. They can see 20x's what we can see but I am not sure if they see in color or not. I would assume at least the Hummer see color since red is so attractive to them. I will include some more cuttings too for you Donna
DonnaB you got mail!
Thamks!
Elizabeth, Daisy e-mailed me and said she was coming to your house but she is going to stop off to meet me again and drop off some stuff from Bonnie on her way back from Ga. I can send you some fresh salvia cuttings with them instead of them going through the mail and heat.
hey I,m in south ga!
To late Donna I already cut them a few minutes ago and have them in water to prepare them for shipment in the morning. Bonnie is in Newnan if you get a chance to meet her.
Haven't read all the posts here, but I have scarlet sage coming up quite a bit, it reseeds it self everyear, I'd love to trade some for your salvia. let me know, we might have to wait till after I get back from florida on the l2th, unless we can send out tomorrow or tuesday. let me know ok
kathy_ann

kathy
Donna the hummers in my garden love my cape honeysuckle

Elva
emh I have one I got this spring and it is finally growing some. I think it is not getting enough sun so I'll probably dig it up and put it in a big pot. Everywhere is to wet.
oops wrong Donna lol. You all are going to have to refer to me as DonnaB when speaking to me if more than one of us is on a thread lol.

Dang I missed out. I love this one. I have salvia 'Forest Fire" if you still have a start and lots of rooted coleus.
Hey ya'll- I will post tommorow night of how I do the cuttings! Just got in from the Dachshund races in Huntington Beach and then the Brazil night at the Hollywood Bowl (we like to samba!!)
Just curious- we have a huge , really huge, prolly 30 year old cape honey suckle (red) we inherited with our house. It is more tree than shrub. Where should I do the cuttings for rootining? Our battling hummers adore it and will share! Just tell me how!!
Donna I'm not shipping today. Hubbie just called from work and said he was coming back home and we are going out in the boat since he had to go in and work 15 hours yesterday. They are inside in water with super thrive so they will be fine. Will ship Tuesday or maybe late today if we get back in time.
Ok gals I'll take anything you can seen! I forget to tell ya'll that I'm helping my mother landscape her new place! She has a bare yard & new house! What make this so special to me,,,,,well mother is in remission, after her 2nd round of cancer. Some dr's said she might live 3 months,,,,well God has Bless her,,she ALIVE!,another mircale, there's NO sign of Cancer, it's gone! These plants are going to mend many fences of broken heart of the past! We don't really know each as mother and daughter, but I'm changing all that through my love of plants! If any of you can understand where I'm coming from!
So you gal's send all you can and I'll send you postage back
or a trade of yellow coneflowers or anything you like on my list!
thanks
DonnaV
Donna B - I'll save you some Karwinski. Got one big one left. Love it! If you want to send any to me send blue or purple - mine aren't looking too well at all with all this rain. Need to try again in diff. spot. Are they going to pass by you after me as well as before? I'm confused about the schedule!
gapeahen - I finally ID'd that red. Its S.darcyi and evidently a hummer magnet. Roots like a champ too. But give it LOTS and I mean lots of space or it will crowd out everything else. I have to cut mine back often (hence all the cuttings.) So glad to here about you and your mom getting closer - still hope for me!
Donna
