CLOSED: looking for hibiscus seeds

Judsonia, AR(Zone 7b)

i'm looking for hibiscus seeds I don't have, I have white w/ pink edges, pink, red, lemon slice, copper king, and white w/ pink center, I don't have these to trade, I've just planted them, I have other seeds I can trade though, I'd really like to find some unusual seeds, for hardy hibiscus.

let me know if you have any, if you have several diff kinds, I can send you a bar of home made goatmilk soap in trade or trade seeds for seeds.

I had some plants I got off of ebay that didn't come up..
I have, lord lady, fantasia, old yeller, disco bell, texas star, ciris "white with red center" there use to be a good site called hibiscus hut and one of the owners died. so the other one couldn't do business without him. I was collecting hibiscus for a while but I stoped...

kathy_ann,

I have a dark maroon with very large flowers. Sorry, but I don't know the name of the cultivar. It's just now in bud, but I'd be happy to send you some seed when it is finished. Let me know if you want me to save it for you. BTW, I'd trade the whole plant (and throw in my husband) for a bar of homemade goatmilk soap! 8=}

Well, I think I have that hisbiscus, I think I'll just keep my hubby, LOL, but would trade soap for plants if you got something I don't have LOL

I'd love to have the maroon one if you would like to make me number 2 on your list sharvis. I have grown tons from seed and I know one some time ago was supposed to be burgundy, but it must not have made it. I'd be happy to trade. :)

Badseed: I'll sure save you some, but since I don't have the foggiest what the cultivar might be, I can't guarantee that it will produce the same plant as the mama. Anyway, it's just now about ready to bloom, so if you like I'll post a couple of pictures here in a few days so you can see it and then when the seed ripens I'll get the info (address etc) from you and mail some off. Don't worry about the trade, I'm sure I'll hit you up for some of your seed later on ;-]

kathy: So I guess your hubby is more important than a plant, huh? Sigh. I tell mine that he's been around so long, he's almost like one of the family. (Just kidding, of course, I love him to pieces!) Hang on to that soap till next year and I should have bunches of stuff to trade then. This is a new garden for me and I'm just getting started with it.

When I see your pics, I may be a taker too. Except I can get some homemade soap (or any cosmetic) from goat's milk, and honestly, not to be selfish, I WANT THE WHOLE PLANT, and I will let you keep your husband. I need to find a lesser used model. LOL

Kathy Ann,

I have seeds from my Moy Grande Hibiscus. http://plantsdatabase.com/go/40936/index.html
It is actually a hybrid so the seeds will not be true to form though. The parentage is Hibiscus grandiflorus (Swamp Mallow) & Hibiscus mocheutos 'Southern Belle'.

Klamath Falls, OR(Zone 6a)

Ooops...guess I goofed. I have to apologize to everybody here. This hibiscus really did bloom a dark maroon color last year, and as you can see, it is clearly red this season. Don't have a clue what happened to it. I didn't mean to mislead you all so for those of you looking for the color I described in my earlier post, well.....never mind.

Did you get the seeds you wanted?? I have mixed seeds, pink, rose, dark pink, and white with red throat. The mother plant is over 50 years old and I have about 30 plants from her, all are blooming this year and are full of seeds.
All the blooms are from 8 to 10 inches wide.

Annabelle15 if you should have some extra and want to get rid of them I would really be interested. This is my first year on trying to start Hibiscus. I have some seeds I am going to start the first of the year that I got off Ebay, and I hope they do good. I have half of them in the freezer now, I might say I don't have anything to trade, but if you would do postage please think of me.

You have great timing, you lucky gal. I thought I did not have any extra, but I was going through my seeds last night getting ready for a swap and found an extra baggie of them. I was going to just add them to the swap pile, but they are yours. :)

You have mail.

Sweezel I received my Moy Grande' Hibiscus seeds in the mail Saturday. Thanks so much for the Fireball and the Moscheutos as well. I can't wait to get them planted. You are such a generous person. I hope next year I will be able to have seeds to give out to other people as well. This is my first year of really getting into gardening. But I am getting a good start on everything. Thanks again.
