Lookin good girl!! AnnaZ sure did us right on these!
You will love it when it lays open, like an umbrella.
You won't like the bloom,looks great,smells like a dead cat!LOL!

Cedar Key, FL(Zone 9a)

They won't bloom till next year ,right?

Murrells Inlet, SC(Zone 8a)

CC,
They shouldn't bloom again until February of next year or at least that's what Anna told me when I got mine. I ws really impressed by the size of the bulbs she sent out to people.
Mine weighed in at around 6lbs and was as big as a honeydew.
The leaves are just starting to pop through the shoot on mine.

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

Looks great Tracey. I'm looking forward to seeing mine leaf out.

Cedar Key, FL(Zone 9a)

I forgot about mine and just found it last week
it was starting to send up a shoot and had roots coming out

OK
I think they were roots, they were large white thick thingies.....
That thing was scarey in the first place....last week it was really freaky!

Harrisville, MI(Zone 5b)

It only gets weirder CC!!

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

Shoot, why didn't I say I wanted one???

San Francisco, CA(Zone 10a)

Froto sent me this one, this spring.

It has two shoots.

Those odd thick white roots freaked me out too, when I first saw them popping up out of the soil.

CC mine has those white thingies also. I am assuming that they are roots but really don't know.
How do you all have them growing? In full sun, partial shade ,in a pot,in the ground?
I have mine in a 20 inch plastic planter in full sun and if it gets too wet I move it up onto the covered deck to dry out for a while to reduce the risk of rot.

Cedar Key, FL(Zone 9a)

Mine is in a pot,I throw it in the GH when its too wet

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

Doc potted mine for me into big pots yesterday and put a small one he brought up to me, in the ground. Today the leaves have fanned out on it. Mine are all in dappled shade. This plant scares the heck out of me. I'm thinking ahead, way ahead like Feb.

Murrells Inlet, SC(Zone 8a)

Mine is freaking me out to Shirley so much so that I had it sitting out on the patio yesterday in the sun and went outside last night about 2:30 am to move it back up on the deck becasue it had actually started to sprinkle rain, well guess what? When I went out to leave for work this morning the @#$% was sitting right in the same spot on the patio I had moved it from.
The only thing I can say is I must have only dreamed that I moved it but it did sprinkle last night. I apparently had it on my mind to do and fell asleep and then dreamed that I actually did it.
Today mine has pushed the leaves out of the sleeve and are starting to open.

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

David, if it would have bloomed for you right now, you might not have noticed the odor, having the cold you do.

Judsonia, AR(Zone 7b)

oh cool, but what is it, I've never seen bulbs that big before.

kathy

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

Kathy, the common name is VooDoo Lily. Very pretty, but a nasty smelling bloom.

Judsonia, AR(Zone 7b)

your kidding! never seen them that huge before. I did hear they smell terrible LOL thanks for telling me what they were.

I rotate mine from full sun to partial shade and that's only because when it gets too wet, I move it up onto the deck to dry out, then it goes back out in the full sun again.

I've been growing plants for a long time now and this is probably by far one of if not the weirdest i've seen.

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

I got mine about 10 days ago and it was about a foot tall, give or take a little. Here is a picture of it today and it is at least 3 ft. tall now, maybe more. It's in a 20 gallon pot that is about 2/3's filled with soil. Thanks a bunch AnnaZ for this bulb and thanks Doc for getting it started for me. It is very unusual. Mine is in dappled shade all day.

David yours looks great. I'm glad it is handling the heat you are having.

Shirley yours appears to be the same height as mine. You can almost see the thing growing.

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

I love the trunk on them. Not sure I'm excited about seeing a bloom though. Probably more concerned about having to smell it. LOL!
