Babs I grew some from seed and it was growing at incredible speeds in full sun untill this month when it got so hot. It died with in days. There was no saving it even in total shade. I don't think it will grow for you either since you are in 9b and I'm in 8b

Hi Donna and Babs isn't that a tropical greenhouse plant? I would think that that would very much tolerate that zone(heat and humidity). I think they are very suceptable to diseases(bugs and soil).Maybe thats why it died. ????I have seen them in the Chicago greenhouse and it is a sauna in there. They also have to be repotted every six months that is what my freind said. I don't want to bet my life on it though.

POG there were no bugs or anything. I even sent one to a tropical plant dealer in zone 9b in Fl and she kept hers in the shade from the start and hers died to. Also a master gardener friend of mine said they don't like the heat and humidity here. I repotted it 3 times in the 3 months since I grew it from seed it grew so fast and big.

Donna I had the same problem with mine. Mine were in gallon pot in partial shade in the Shade house. They bloomed and then the dissapeared...no seeds no nothing. Hmmm... I thought it was just me. The blooms were very tiny and not a very strong blue. I was dissapointed that they didn't look like the photos I had seen. :-(

Maybe will try again starting some seed sent to me from a friend in about September when it is cooler and see how it does then.

Let me know. I don't plan on trying them again. But am courious.
