My H. carnosa finally started to bloom this year after 17years of waiting and now my not so DH can not stand the smell of it. So I have moved her outside for the summer. But the leaves are turning a reddish purple color. Too much sun?? It was climbing up it ropes and now it has let go and is hanging down. Is it dying?? adjusting?? Will post a pic soon to help with the DX.
Is this going to kill my H. carnosa
I'm no expert but I do have a bunch of hoyas and most of them do get a suntan when placed in the sun, I'm not sure it will kill it, I think carnosas are pretty dang tough, it could be that the vines are looking for a bit of shade though, is it possible to place it in dappled light?
Under direct sunlight the leaves may turn red and usually isn't harmful to your Hoya. Call it a Hoya Sun tan. Too much sunlight would be indicated by leaves getting light brown areas which turn dry and crisp later on.
Can't you hang it in some shade...? Looks like you have good light...and in the shade it wouldn't get so burned but get the good light.
I moved it to my front porch today gets south sun till about 12n then filtered sun/shade the rest of the day. Hopefully this will help .. Thanks
Sounds better. And if you can hang it from a tree, or a post where it is shielded from the noon sun...all the better. Morning sun is great!
